    Exclamation R.I.P. - Jason Pettus

I figured i would write in this forum, because those who knew him would most likely see it here. Im sorry if we werent able to call you tonight.

Tonight, around 10 pm, Jason Pettus was heading down Medlock bridge on his 2005 R6, when a car made for a left hand turn and pulled right out in front of him. He died at the scene. May everyones prayers be with him. Be safe out there people... not everyone is watching for you.

He will be sorely missed, and widely remembered. He was 21 years old, for those who didnt know him. As this is a recent tragedy, this is all the information i have.

    thank you, and god bless.
    Paul

Jason was a good friend of mine and along with a lot of my friends, I knew him personally.

He had a big life and I can tell he would have had a great future ahead of him. Recently turned 21 and was seriously probably one of the nicest and coolest guys I knew. He was always a positive thinker and would always think of others first. He would not take me for a ride on his new bike because he felt he wasn't a fully experienced bike rider yet.

I feel very bad and cannot believe I will not see him again.

My prayers will definitely be with him.

With all the bad drivers in the metro area, I truely believe it is way too unsafe for motorcycles. Just think about the fender-benders that happen, with a motorcycle a fender-bender is a life or death situation.

This is what paul, the second guy that we went to school with to die on a motorcycle?

well, to answer questions... no, he was white. Also, joey youre right, this is the second kid from duluth to die in a motorcycle accident (mac lyle the first?).. and last, yes this is the guy that worked at american lube fast off indian trail.

andy is totally right about Jason.. one of the nicest and coolest guys i knew. i still cannot beleive this actually happened. he had a lot going for him, and i am horribly disappointed that he wont get to accomplish his dreams.

2 members of speedmonkey have had near-death incidents on motorcycles... as cool as having a bike could be, im not going to take a risk. GA really isnt a place for it. lots of morons out there. may he rest in peace.. and never be forgotten by those who appreciated him.

hope no one takes this wrong.. just a saying my father told me that has helped me cope with death of friends in the past. "you must always remember.. the end of something great.. is always the beginning for something even greater, if he/they/she were still here.. they'd tell you the same thing"

    btw. this is Speedm0nkey

HI everyone. i have just got out with paul ,or to yall stygiosracing, in mourning with his family. may all of our sorrows and prayers be with him and his family.

i met jason about 2 yrs ago. long time friend and coworker. i have never ever had a friend as upbeat and nice as he has always been. from the momment anyone met him, you would have known that he was a great guy. i worked with him at american lube fast for the few short months i was there. i have never had a closer bond with any of my friends than with him. he just turned the age of 21 during the summer. his life had just begun and it has come to an abrupt end. he has been the most honest and loyal friend i have had. i will never meet a person like him again. like i have said to his parents he had his whole life ahead of him and that his life was starting to build, and that i would trade places with him with no doubt in my mind. i have debated with myself over and over again on getting a bike and jason would have been my riding buddy. no one has ever talked me out of getting a bike, and he was the only one and he didnt have to say a single word to do so. he was like a brother to me. edit that. he was and will always BE a brother to me. To Jason Pettus: we will miss you. we love you. and we will miss you with MUCH love! Rest In Peace.......my brother from another mother.(no pun, not a joke,so do not laugh)

P.S. to all board members. i know this would be a great time to discuss how dangerous bikes are and how bad ga people drive around them. but as all appreciated friends of Jason. we would like to ask please do not discuss about that here at this time. this does not mean that we do not agree with you. by all means i do. but paul started this thread so we may honor him and spread his name.

if there are anymore questions feel free to post up. one of us as jasons friends will reply soon after. i will also be circulating this through myspace.com and evolutionm.net.

I know that Jason will always be a big part of a lot of people's lives this day forward. He was an awesome guy. Frequently we went riding a lot and he was very cautious on what he did. The motorcycle is not what killed him, it is the people who arent paying attention to the road at all. Pray for his family because these next couple of days are not going to be easy. Keep Jason in your thoughts and he will always be with us. We miss you Jason and I hope to see you again...you will always be missed.

So sad to hear! I had 2 girls that I work with come to work today crying because of it. From all I have read and briefly talked about with the 2 girls I work with, he was a great guy and I would have loved to meet him. Like the saying goes, "Only the good die young"

My condolences go out to his friends and family!

I hate it when motorcyclists say that. They are about as hypocritical as Christian people.

For the main point of this thread, I am sorry to hear about this. I was actually prepared to come in here and say he deserved it(you know how I feel about streetracing and this is the KILL'S FORUM), but in this scenario, he obviously didn't. I don't pray, but I do give out my condolences. Sorry for the loss of your friend. Later, QD.

This is no place for motorcycles. It's a gigantic risk every time someone chooses to ride one, what with the number of inattentive morons behind the wheel around Atlanta and the metro area. A motorcycle took my fathers life, and I've sworn never to ride one since.

If this is the guy I think it is, he used to ride around with a small pack of other motorcycles. I actually believe I came across him on the road the other day. Him and a couple of them gave me a thumbs up and revved their bikes a little while I revved back.

Motorcycles are completely out of place on public roads where the majority of the drivers are paying little attention to the road their driving on in their 4000lbs automotive tanks.

dont know how true it might be, but this is info i got from a cop, he said out of motorcyclist deaths.. its a 3:1 ratio.. 3 not being at fault, 1 being at fault. he is a biker as well though, but i looked it up and most info backs him up 100%.

    P.S.
being christian is the worst thing you could be.

i cant believe the audacity of some people on here. . .

but anyway. . .this is brittany (those of you that know me, probably figured that out by my username.) i've been through a hell of a lot in my 20 years, but i have to say this one takes the cake. this is THE hardest thing i have ever been through. we all used to be sooo close, and its an absolute shame that it took *this* to bring us back together. this void is so huge, its almost unbearable. what the hell. . . i dont understand why this had to happen to the most wonderful guy a lot of us have ever met. . .somebody please wake me up from this nightmare.

My Prayers go out to his family and friends as well. I'm sorry for your loss. Please Everyone be careful out there, it doesn't matter weather you're the best driver/bike rider in the world. You'll always have that Asshole next to you that don't know jack. Some people are lucky enough to have learned their lessons when it comes to bikes, myself included. Like someone mentioned ealrier, It's not worth it. God Bless!

    Default Thanks from Jason's Dad

Hi gang. This is Jason's dad. I wanted to thank you all for the kind words for my son. Guess you'll see me driving around in his Red Spec V. It's paid for and really nice. He loved it too. His funeral was today and I will miss my only son for the rest of my days. His friends are now my friends.

I read this today at his Funeral. Thought you'd like to see it. If you ever need anything give me a shout.

    [email protected]

How can I do this? How can I not.

We taught him how to put his pants on. I had to make his mother stop doing it for him. He would say I can’t and she would always do it. For those close to us they knew that Jason was a Momma’s boy.

We did all the Hospital visits and Dr. Visits. Mostly him and his mother. He was born in Johnson City Tennessee.

Helped him learn to swim, Taught him to ride a bike. We played catch together, but not enough. We played little league ball one year and I hit him in the nose with the ball. It bled and bled.

I taught him how to Drive, but didn’t do a very good job of it. Based on his record.

Many of you knew he lost his drivers license last year. I talked his mother into quitting her job so that she could take Jason back and forth to work. For months she would take him and I would pick him up and bring him home when I could. His Mom would fix sandwiches, or muffins, for everyone at Jason’s work. She always made sure he had money to get him something to eat. Again he was his Mommas boy.

I taught him to do a budget in Excell and he was just starting to get his finances and life going. I worked with him on his computer. He had a much better computer than I do that we built.

He read the same books I like and we went to the bookstore together.

We played the same Computer games and went to watch the same movies together.

He loved going on vacations and wanted to go to California to see the redwood trees. I wish we had gone.

He asked me for an IPOD just the other day because his MP3 player was broke. I told him no he had gotten enough for Christmas. How can I take that back.

He was our Future, Our Life, my best friend, my son.

    Jason We miss you.

Were all praying and keeping it so that Jason stays with all of us. I know i didnt know Jason for as long as the others did but when i knew him he was the greatest guy I have met. It's always sad to hear of someone young getting killed, especially someone who is obviously cared about by so many. My condolences go to your family and may he rest in peace.
