Why is this insistance on there being this "lock in"? Is this something that's going to be used as an excuse if there is a back out? Just bring a camera and if Z backs out(not implying he will) then this thread, plus the video will make it very well documented and he would be made into quite a clown. If your "friend" is down to run then he ought to to just show up and run, it doesn't get much simpler than that.
