    Default Lingenfelter Vette

Well... Can the Kills forum go for KILLED also? Anyways... I'm leaving Barrett pkwy a few weekends ago, get on I75 south heading back home when this vette runs up beside me, he gets on it once and goes flyin' by, so I catch back up to him and we slow to about 65, we both go and man.... this thing was so loud it was insane... ok, first off, I drive a 450+hp mustang with off road exhaust... it's not exactly quiet... Well when me and this Vette got on it, I heard NOTHING in my car except his, which made life suck for me since all I go by is listening to my exhaust.. I never look at the tach. This thing hauled so much ass it was crazy.. So we went a few more times, me just dropped into 4th and this just kept pulling away on me. Never got to try 3rd, but oh well. I'm a person who will admit when he has been beat (I never boast). Thus far, the cars that have spanked me:
SL55 AMG (with a prick driving it... nice car, but what an ass, one of those guys who just points his nose up when you get beside him..)
Some black 240sx that absolutely tore me up off the line... after about 40 I was keeping pace with him, but he had already jumped about 2 car lengths a head of me... this was prior to my vortech install)
And then the black lingenfelter vette....killed me.

what year was the car? It would take a pretty serious car to beat yours with 450 rwhp unless your blower belt came off.

the new c6 package is rated at 530bhp, the c5's were the best years with the top package putting out around 725bhp...but the c6's are still new, just give them some time and their packages will be right up there with the c5's

Well there was another c6 i read about in car and driver or one of those other new car magazines my dad gets(40 yr old guy experiencing his midlife crisis)... its supposed to compete with if not beat the viper. I'll see if i can find the article and post up the numbers. the motor was something like 7.5 liters.

I have to say though i still dont like the non-popup headlights on the c6... Just cant get into them.. theyre way too viper-esk...

if the lingenfelter is the vette im thinking of wasnt it TT? I am pretty possitive htat was the vette they offered the turbos on for like 20k upgrade package. And it put out an ungodly amount of power. I saw one go at an auction and they said there are only around 6 or so in the whole US.

motor trend did a special on the c5 lingenfelter. it was TT and had a electronic boost controller set for different power levels and the highest being around 900hp...they did a 1/4 test against a F-18 Hornet and the Vette won..haha.. i think it ran somewhere in the low 10's high 9's

how did you know it was "LINGENFELTER"??

why not just some "black or dark blue vette"

i DOUBT it woudl take TWIN TURBO c5 to outrun you, IF you were outrun by stock sl55 amg.

the amg car is NOT that fast.

your basic, 01-04 z06 with a cam, exhaust and a tune, would pull you just liek you describe.

really..i'd like to take you up on this bet. A stock zo6 traps what 113 mph or so....a fox mustang making 450 rwhp will do 119-120 mph. My old mustang with 450 rwhp ran 11.3@123. Stock zo6s will not run that....heads/cam/headered ones yes not stock.

I don't have that car any more but i'll run you with my new car but its going to make significantly more than 450 rwhp....it should be ready in a few weeks. Do you have a zo6 to run? Maybe hyper50 will want to run you with his car.

Lingenfelter c5's are twin turbo and there are two packages...one is putting out like 550hp and the 2nd stage is 750. A few years ago had a stage 1 running at commerce back when i was running my bike every week, his best E.T. was the same as mine but a couple mph faster....11.2 @125 or so on the stock goodyears. He lived in SC and "claimed" he set is cruise at 80 on the way down I-85 and averaged 30mpg.

haha i'm messing with ya man. A "windsor" are the motors that were built at the windsor, ontario ford engine plant..They are the 351s. Its in a 87 mustang notchback.

no they are not all windsors. The only motor with the term windsor in its name is the "351 windsor". People get them confused with the windsor family of engines vs the cleveland/FE/M but when i speak of having a windsor its a 351W based motor...not a 302,289,260 whatever....the ones that were built at the windsor, ontario engine plant. Its kind of confusing if you don't know Fords.

no, i think you are wrong.

all of the small blocks are referred to as WINDSORS.

The only one that gets the "W" after it is the 351W.
because it must be differentiated from the "351C".

Because of the all of the Ford engines, it is the only engine that was built in both small and large block configuration.

as you know 351w is a small block and the 351C or "cleveland" is a big block.

People that do not know fords?

    HA

You do not know me, so dont make comments about my knowledge of "Fords"

If you are still confused here is a link to discussion of
    "The ford windsor engine family"

    http://www.network54.com/Forum/119417

as far as " engines that were produced at the windsor ontario plant"

that plant is still in operation, and currently builds 4.6 and 5.4 engines..

also still in operation is the Romeo plant, located in Romeo Michigan.
that plant was opened in 1973 and currently builds 4.6 and 5.4 engines, including the 3v, 4.6 for the 05 mustang gt, and the supercharged 5.4 for the Ford GT.

i would rather talk about your turbo 351, than give a Ford History lesson.
so whats up, what combination? what vehicle is it going into?

trust me man if you were in ford circles no one calls a 260,289,and 302 a windsor. I don't care how many forums you show me. If someone says i have a windsor in my car its usually a 351W.

A 351 cleveland is NOT a big block. The only big blocks ford made are the 429 and 460. A cleveland and a windsor are the same cubic inches but are different. Maybe since you are ford expert you can tell me the difference between them?

yes, they discontined the 351w a while back when they switched over to the modular engines. The name 351 windsor was due to the Windsor plant building the engine vs the 351 cleveleand which was build at the Cleveland,OH plant.

so you are wrong, about the "windsor" engine family.
    period.

The Ford windsor family consists of ALL 90 DEGREE ford small block v8 engines.

and the 351C is NOT a 90 degree "small block Ford"

    what is it?

a 351w is basically a tall deck 302 block, and a longer stroke.

    The 351c is TOTALLY different.

    Not a small block ford.
Yes it is a big small block.

Its a member of the 335 engine family. the members are 351C, 351M and 400.

    but again..

    can we talk

LESS about ford engine history and engine families?

    and MORE about racing?

this pretty much seems pointless... the supercharged 5.0 appearantly thinks a stock z06 IS too much.

and your a ard because you wont talk abotu your car..

so this thread is appraoching totally pointless

i'll be looking to run some blown zo6s when my car is done...stock zo6 is a waste of my gas.. It would have been a good run with my car all motor though. It trapped about the same as a stock zo6 would....115 mph or so.

What i'm talking above is all semantics. Yes you can call the 260-351 the windsor family but when i was saying i have a windsor i was referring to the 351w. Also the 351w shares the same bore as the 302 which is 4.0 inches. The stroke is 3.5 inch vs 3.0 and the block is 1.3 inches taller then a 302 is.
