You're diulluting the discussion. YOU (or me - LOL) are more than 10 times more likely to crash while doing this.
A seasoned drifter will disagree. A seasoned canyon-carver would as well. This is a debate between 2 people that drift and both drift quite well. They both are as comfortable drifting/tandem drifting as you are drinking a glass of water.
Yeah, I'm speaking of this whole "street drifting competition" thing.
I am not a professional drag racer by any means, nor is anyone I've ever run.......but it's not that hard to race in a straight line, which is why I don't mind doing it in such an amatuer setting.
Drifting, on the other hand......you can't even compare the two. Hell, you can't even really "win" on the street anyway, so it's kinda pointless.
I'm glad you said this. What do you think a mom and dad in a minivan thinks when they see 2 "amateurs" drag-racing. They are in FUCKING awe. HOLY SHIT LANKHOSS IS DRIVING AT LEAST 13.9 @ 109mph HE IS A PRO. You just said "it's not hard to drag race". Say that to some1 who doesn't do it and they will disagree.
In YOUR brain, you are chillin - changing the radio station and adjusting your seatbelt during the run. It's NOTHING to you. You're like "umm - that was easy". Same goes for drifting... to a tandem drifter he doesn't see it as a challenge. 3 inches from the other car is NORMAL SHIT. You don't just crash THEIR car if you hit some1 - you crash YOURS too ... there is no difference in the confidence level of some1 who drifts against some1 ELSE who ALSO drifts.
We are comparing a DRIFTER to a DRIFTER. It's a DIRECT comparison. 1 fighter pilot can't say "yeah, but my F22 is more expensive than your Mig29 so I can fighter-pilot better than you can. Write me a check." - LOL. GAY!!!!!!!!!! You're either a fighter-pilot or you're not. You're either a drifter or you're not. And both of these guys ARE.
And I agree Lankhoss - the "winner" on a street drift is up to "a street judge (lol)" so it's definitely gay. Sometimes... that judge even has a nice uniform on:

I think the amateur street racers that get together are A LOT less likely to cause damage than the amateur street drifters.
I dont know about most of you but i RARELY run on a street with any cars around. I stick to access roads that have NO traffic. So i dont feel im putting anyone else but myself at risk.
I think in terms of what is more safe, i think most people will say in terms of contact to contact drag racing is a much safer sport than drifting.
Hell why does every fucking S13 or S14 have quarter panel damage? its from HITTING SHIT
Maybe I should have been more specific......street racing from a ROLL is pretty mindless. The hardest thing about drag racing, is launching....period. When you go from a roll, the whole "skill" of launching and adjusting your throttle to not spin (or lose control) is almost ELIMINATED.
Also, drifting is way different in the sense that once you ARE drifting, the danger level is much more similar across the board. Someone who drag races a 15 or 16 second car can pretty much just stomp the gas until he gets through the finish line. It is almost impossible for someone with a car that slow to do something that would make his vehicle go completely out of control. With drifting, the IDEA is to have your car on the edge of being out of control regardless of how much power it makes. I'd think that higher hp cars are more dangerous than the lower ones, but I don't think drag racing slow cars is NEARLY as dangerous nor takes even close to the same amout of skill and practice that drifting does.
Also, by "danger" I mean the possibility of something happening to my car. Bumping into someone while drifting in a parking lot probably won't harm or kill anyone, but the fuck if I want to take the chance at someone sliding into my door. It's the same reason I don't like racing from a dig, as that means I've gotta trust the jackass next to me doesn't just stay in it if/when he loses traction, and T-bones me.
wtf ever. im never gunna win this shit. its IA. so many people are stuck up their own asses they have no respect for other peoples car any more. what happen to the days where everyone use to just go out for the love and fun of doing it. i enjoy ever ones car no matter of what they do or style they go for. all i asked if RJ3's25ITS wanted to tandem. it was for shits and giggles and for fun and basically i got is no i wont because you have a 6k car vrs my 28k car. sounds like a stuck up dick head to me. when money didnt even matter. not like i wanted to do it for money. i guess if you dont have a bmw or corvette or audi or lexus a car is not worth building any more. or if your car is worth under 20k it aint shit. yeah my car looks like shit. but runs and performs like no other. ive never realy cared for looks. im out of here for sure. im sorry my 240 isnt to par with your vett or bmw.
this shit got stupid real fast
x2:rolleyes:
i kean i love a clean or fast 240 as much as anyone but i'd never tandem my vette with any car or a 240 for that matter. heck, i dont know that i'd really run it drifting period but i'd love too:yes:but that's why i bought a 240, just to drift:2cents:
You are never going to win it b/c you are really close minded person period....
Now let's retake this for the last time, If you dont get it this time you must be mentally challenge
So you ask for shits & giggles, and my answer was..
So in simple words I said NO, b/c I spent too much money/sweat and effort to built my car to totaled it b/c you hit me.... In other words I take pride in what I have since I had to work hard for it, meaning I didn't have a speed shop built my car I did it and sweated every step of the way.
I even mention it wasn't as easy as slaping a turbo and hitting the streets, meaning it is fucking hard to take a car engineer to support 260bhp handle over 600bhp
And the I added:
so you acted oblibious of my main reason #3:
YOU ARE A SNITCH
That alone tells me a lot of your personal self, meaning IF we were drifting and you hit me I lose control, you might not man up and say "my bad" I'll pay for you IC, charge pipes and front bumper.
Then #2:
IF I ever do it, I have more to lose none the less we bouth have 4 wheels attached to a chassis, my cost of replacement if wayyy higher than yours, is simple economics you must've cover that on the 3rd grade.... I'm not been a stock up, I even man up and said I'll be willin to pay IF I mess up, b/c like Vteckidd said bumping into each other is part of it even with the pros.... You act like it's never going to happen and because I value mi shit I'm wrong...
I AM BEING REALISTIC OF WHAT IS ON THE LINE
Then #1:
The physical reason why not, engine is being built as we talk all this shit
So if this is so amusing to you, stop trying to prove a stupid point....
everything you say i can agree with except..
your right i would not be willing to pay for your car if i hit it or if you hit me. i would not ask you to pay for anything if you hit me either. its the risk you take when you do stuff like that. i know this and so does everybody else. no diffrenent than somebody breaking traction and hitting you and you crashing. dont say it doesnt happen cause i once was going from a 40 roll and hit a wet spot for a sec that i did not see. luckily the guy was a little ahead of me and i didnt hit him. but i cleared 3 lanes till i got controll of my car agian. if we were side by side and you spun and your rear end hit my front end......what ever. call a wrecker tow it home and fix it when i get all the pieces. no biggie. what happens happens. even the best spin eventually. and i was only maily kidding on the snitch part. you took that too far. tell you what next time you go to that spot pm me. ill ride up there just slide for you.
:(
The picture is far bigger than that.....
A car is a car, prepping a car is no easy car; if you total your car is like me totaling a 325E36, i'll probably get a rolling chasiss for anywhere from $1,000 to $2,500 and start swapping all the guts...
I'm far that point man, this chassis had to be reinforced like welding 16 3/16 plates plates so the rear arms dont rip off the chassis, then the another 4 plates to reinforce the rear sub-frame. Really not your basic swap everything over a weekend and be done by Monday...
I dont even carry a full cover ins anymore, since the value of the car for the insurance comp. is so low that is not worth.... is a shity situation that I have to deal with daily whenI hit the streets... so many morron jumping out of the blue and I have to avoide the accident b/c I will lose at the end....
never had to do that before. never had the need to have as much power as you have so i guess i dont know what it takes to do that. prob the reason i keep blowing my ka trannies cause im to lazy to go to 300zx tranny cause replacing a ka tranny on my sr is like a 2 hour job tops.
Sure, you can show me your routine, and I'll follow.. I love competition but I'm not ready to put it all on the line. Maybe some clipping cones but that is as much as I'll do, I went to a competition in Cordele Ga, and it was pretty fun we can do that too and then let the judges decide.
i got cones. i usally just set the same course up i always run when i up their. nah. you can follow but it prob wont be close enough to even be considered anything so might as well just do single runs. your car doesnt realy sound like its to set up for drifting. hows your switch backs?
I have and overall set-up, where I can road course, drag, and drift... I'm switching to the new TRM suspension setup (coilovers with shock travel, bound & rebound adjustable), so it'll be fun to see how this new set-up reacts to drag and drift scenarios, I hoping it will drift better, and I will be able to soften it up enough to still do drag racing.
I'll get sideways by just going in hot and shifthing the way forward, or just clutch kick it, sometimes I use the e-brake when needed, or just powerover, or faint with light gas and brake pedal... to change angle I just use the brakes with some steering work to turn around...
i actually have my dampner kinda hard in front and soft in rear to dig into ground for a little traction. i think i might stiffin it up a little in the rear tho. what camber adjustments are you using in front and rear when you drift?
and no ebrake intiation for me. im trying to break away from the ebrake and using more left foot breaking. usally when i go in i try to stay as straight as possible so when i clutch kick i get nothing but full lock and angle from the get go. i need modified steering nuckles is what i need
Why thank you :goodjob:
Yea I traded it Sunday.
As far as all this bullshit goes I just see it as J (whatever210) thought Rafa's reply about Tandem was a bit snobby with the whole check thing. But hey its his right to say he has more invested in his car for someone to potentially fuck it up.
As far as Lankhoss goes we all know all you give a fuck about is straight line racing anyways so why try and flame Whatever210 just because he has a 240? How bout you stick to highway pulls and he sticks to drifting
Good runs. I cant wait to get back up that way. Nobody down here wants to run
Working on the video of the HD variety!
i want to drift!!! but my car wont let me!
