Its just like anything you have to start at the bottom and work your way up! You want to ask a real IT person questions... Ask Admin(Paul) he will tell you anything and everything you need to know and he is a IT manager.

I have a degree in TCOM, which I don't use, but you will NOT make that kind of money anymore. Back in the day, MCSE, A+, and things like that, used to mean a lot more, but now they mean dick. People want degrees, and if you can't produce that, you're gonna be bottom feeding for awhile. Those certs mean even less when you have less than 5yrs experience to go along with them. Like I said, outsourcing pretty much put the nail in the coffin on that one. It killed the market for college graduates in this country too.

With no experience? You can expect a 35k/yr starting salary. If you have 5yrs+, then you can get more. How MUCH more depends on the company, and what kind of work they'll be having you do. The market for this stuff has really fallen out, and I pretty much saw that happening when I graduated, so I took a different route and didn't even do anything IT related. I'm MUCH better off now because of that decision, lol, so it was a good one for me to make. However, if you're set on being in that field, then that's what I would expect to start out at. It can vary a little bit, but with people that can do it for LESS money, have MORE experience, and MORE education (college degree's), you're resume becomes not as attractive as the next guy.

I'm 21 and it is definitely possible as long as you are with the right company and you have the right credentials. A degree won't take you as far as knowing the right people

LOL. You definitely dig some digging for that one! That post was the "turning point" in my life... which lead me to what I am currently doing now. As far as why I left a higher paying job... they moved to Norcross and I did not feel like moving with them.
