You do anything to the m3 to make it that fast? Yea i know you were calling out your boy, but i want to get some races out before the cold sets in too much.

btw i dont race even 50cc bikes or anything with n2o, even if it is an 80 hp escort.

That means you can't race Boki's M3... He has like a 409874 shot of nitrous. lol. His car is definately not a slouch by any means.

Sorry man but my old E36 M3 was trapping higher than your car on it's old set up and he pulled about 6 car lengths on me 60-130 off spray just dicking around.

Well i'd a liked to race you awhile ago but my car is not as fast as it was. My E36 was doing 13.3-13.4@104. About the same or slightly slower than a well modded cobalt without heavy ass wheels like yours. I ran a few with pullies, tune, exhaust and didn't have a problem but yours has just about everything. Also it has a cage now and other stuff to slow it down in a straight line

ill race it when my methanol comes in next week
You will probably kill me from a dig.... the colder it gets the more i have to limit my boost in first. pissing me off, im down to 50% boost to get traction. These shitty tires need to burn the hell off.

not tryin to be rude but how do you limit boost on a s/c? you dont have a elec wastegate or anything else, n with just bolt-ons n a pully you still shouldnt be over 250whp a sticky tire will hook that all day long!

I would be the car is on racing slicks right now, 17's, race pads (not street/race.. actual race) and was left prepped to go straight to Road Atlanta as soon as I land in town for the event over thanksgiving. After that weekend it goes back to the shop and it will be down for several months. 150,000 mile overhaul time. It won't be seeing much or any street action until it's back

butters, if you're worried about straight line traction, your best bet would be to find your factory wheels (at least) and put a set of dr's on the front of that mofo. i dont care which tire you get, if you put it on that chrome thing and try to launch, its just going to light them up... a little sidewall helps with the launch TREMENDOUSLY... just food for thought

Honestly he needs Enkei RPF1's ( I believe that's it and 15lbs) 17's and like a 45 series ( or something like that) with some M/T's. Not only will it look better but it'll hook better than your car bwaha. Don't try and convince him to get rid of the chrom though, it'll never work.

Every pound of rotational mass over stock is inbetween 4-7lbs in your car. So if you have 18lb rims and go to 26lb chromes..Do the math. That's more than an extra passenger.

    helpful...im looking in to it

when i first got this car it was for show, but now im thinking of ditching the lambos + chrome due to the weight as i keeping adding to the engine.

Does his car even make enough power to spin the tires he's got on there now? I'm not trying to be a dick, I've just never seen a fast cobalt before.

im not fast, i guess just quick. (from what people tell me)

as far as your question goes i spin 1-2 and chirp 3rd. I have too much torque

torque steer is gay as hell. I've had 12 second STI drivers ride with me and notice it. I dont mind someone else.

btw stock clutch so no chirping with a 4/6 puck.

the torque makes it FEEL fast but when i ride with someone that has beaten me they feel slow as balls.

idle launch and feathered the clutch.

tell u what, ill remove all the limiters on my car and let Blake take it for a run and see what he thinks when he does a dig. He has a stroked GTO as well.

I have no problem letting him rag my shit out for a few runs.

Does that car have equal length axles and LSD? I've had 600+whp FWD cars, and it really is pointless unless you're content on doing highway rolls. IMO, the only FWD platform that is really worth drag racing is a Honda. They're light, strong tranny that is good for 9's, endless aftermarket, equal length axles, etc. SRT4's aren't bad either, and I've had good luck building those for people, but most other FWD cars are worthless when it comes to drag racing. I don't know enough about the Cobalt to really comment on it (it might be a decent FWD platform), but the motor itself is pretty proven from all accounts of what I've seen. Ecotec's did very well in the NDRA, so that does say something about the motor.

you are correct, ecotecs rock balls.

transmission? ROFL kiss my ass that fucker can accept 350-400(babying it) hp before it pops a hole in the casing

clutch? ROFL stock is good for maybe 250-300 and i never replace clutches

equal axles? no... the engine for one is tilted so it needs to be angled toward the cabin to avoid snapping axles. They are not even, i forgot which side was longer, all i know is people snap them after 250 whp and move on to the 800 hp ones....then the tranny breaks.

trust me, it is not worth it. I am really considering the rsx boosted k20. Although i havent looked at their issues either.

It takes alot of stupid to blow up the ecotec engine, the rest...isnt up to snuff.

Huh? What tranny can only accept 350-400 before "pops a hole in the case"? You're not referring to the Honda tranny, are you???

Get an mr2 man. Most fun car I've ever driven. It hooks off the line just like my WRX did, but handles like a beast. I've spent an ungodly amount of money to get it where it is now, but I would totally do it again.

f-35 saab tranny these chevy ecotecs pack isnt good.

i bought my exhaust from the guy who slapped on a 2.5 pulley and helped fund his tranny purchase. He could beat ALOT of shit.....

    for a month

cobalt handles incredibly nicely along turns if that is what u mean. I'll look in to it, as ive only looked at capabilities of drivetrain+motor recently.

I will say this though, ecotec is INCREDIBLY forgiving to the abuse you put on that motor. It is HARD to break it.

because of this site im considering a k20 hatch project car

K20 is the way to go IMO. I had a BONE STOCK K series head sitting on the table next to my FULLY race prepped 2G DSM race head (and I mean built to holy hell and back). The DSM head was making me 700+hp on my car. Anyway, the stock valves in the K series head were significantly larger than the OVERSIZED valves that I had in my race head for my DSM. The K series head will flow well over 300cfm in stock form, no porting, etc. You have to fight tooth and nail, and port it within an inch of its life, to get the Mistubishi head to do that. K series motors truly are top notch. That's what I would build if I was gonna build another 4cyl. However, I've moved on and have a 2JZ now, so I could care less about the 4 bangers anymore!

Why in the hell would you go from a FWD and even consider going to another FWD.

RWD or AWD are the only way to go. FWD suxors!

I guess some people don't learn a lesson the first FWD they buy.

Oh, and Boris needs a new clutch in the M3 so he won't be racing until it's fixed.

Every pound of rotational mass over stock is inbetween 4-7lbs in your car. So if you have 18lb rims and go to 26lb chromes..Do the math. That's more than an extra passenger.
    17"x7.5Rpf1s are lower that 15lbs.
