    Default Saturn Painted wheels+calipers

Guess I'll include a pic of the engine bay to understand why I chose that color and seeing as how I've never shown it.

Haha, that's how I felt when I first got it. It will look better when I get properly sized tires that match and drop it another inch or so It sits too high with the 18s on there.

Just because its not tucking or "hellaflush"? Its obviously not stock ride height, and its really not high at all. Almost no wheel gap at all. Its not your style, but that doesnt mean it isnt well done.

Good looking car OP. I won't lie, i expected to come in here and hate it, but its not bad!

EDIT: GC - I didnt mean for it to sound like i was attacking you, or trying to start shit. I guess what i'm really saying is, how low should it be to be up to snuff for you?

I like it. I remember seeing a woman in the military driving a ls600 or whatever its called. It had fiberglassed door panels with components in them. At the time (I was 15) I thought it was pretty B.A.

Nobody ever said anything about Hellaflush or superstancefitment, just that it could obviously stand to be lower. Why is it that every single thread you manage to get butt hurt over something that has absolutely nothing to do with you?

This saturn looks exceedingly fast. If you dont mind, May i ask how badly is your face melted from the absurd amount of acceleration this dream machine capable of?

Ahh I see the sarcasm now! Haha I hate how high it sits too. Like I said whenever I get some 40 profile tires without the wheel protector then I am going roughly an inch lower, I already scrape over speedbumps with my 15's on and the new tires I'm going to get will be the same diameter as my stockers. And before everyone goes and flips shit about it being an automatic I can and have chirped into second when I adjusted my line pressure (not that that says much) but due to the damage that does to the transmission I have it set at stock line pressure. I do have a shift kit as well, so an automatic for me I guess is alright until I get out of college so I can get a 5 speed,(which hopefully I will be done with this car and have a cressida or a talon or something else in addition to this). Right now I'm roughly 500$ away from having a stock cobalt turbo kit. 260hp 2800lbs isnt bad for a saturn. And surprisingly its still a fun car to drive albeit a 4 door fwd automatic.

It's about 15.7 seconds too slow. Enough to beat tiburons and crate 350 c10s though!

I don't get it. Are you ditching the 18's (which would make the car look real good) or getting them? To me, 18" wheels are way too much wheel for that car. The car doesn't look bad at all, really. Later, QD.

I am keeping the 18s but I alternate wheels often so I also have a set of 15s

I dont know if it's just the huge balloon tires or if the wheels are just too small, I kind of want something bigger instead of my 15s for the long distance drives (800+ miles) I'm not sure whether or not to get 16s or 17s. My 18s I mostly roll on for shows or if I'm just feelin good. 15s get less attention and ride better. Thanks.

It's the huge tires. The wheels aren't too small at all. Put some 15x7 or 8 on there with tires to fit would look great. 205/50-15 or 215/45-15. Maybe even sixteens. Use the same style wheel as the 18's. or grab a beautiful set of polished or chrome 5 stars. Later, QD.

I couldn't help but notice that the rear right wheel was broken I'm half at some point, Haha. You should post pics of that. :-)

...just kidding, but I saw you on 75 with your flashers on after the meet.

But, yeah. Lower and 16s or 15s would be nice. Not bad for a Saturn.

Haha, yeah that wheel is getting fixed. Its welded all shitty, it holds though. Thats 100$ rims for ya though. And yeah had to pull over cuz swapped my wheels a couple hours before the meet and the bolts came loose on one of the wheels. Not sure why.

Careful with those ecotecs. The timing chains like to commit suicide.

Don't know about all that. Having the 2.2L for the last 6 years has shown me the exact opposite. The Ecotec is actually a good engine. Later, QD.

The lubrication system is flawed with these motors. I've read of the chains giving out at as low as 60k miles. Having the 2.2 for the last 3 weeks has shown this to be true.

I could see where having one for three weeks compared to six years would be a compelling argument. You win. Later, QD.

I have never touched a timing chain and I changed the chain in 4 hours with no help from anyone else. Cam gears are marked and the timing chain has color coded marks to line up to the marks on the gears. I would have to say changing the chain was, for me easier than a belt on my old talon.

Yeah back 2000-2003 or maybe only till 2002 they had faulty timing chain oilers. I replaced the chain, cam gears, chain guides, tensioner and oiler but even if I didn't I wouldn't have hesitated to drive it to Alaska the chain guides did not resemble that of a Ecotec with a bad oiler, I just did it for PM. It's been in the family since new and has been very well maintained, engine wise hasnt had any problems. Well no problems at all besides a fuel pump, power steering pump and alternator, it's been a good car.

Weird. ive done 3-4 eco 2.2's and only the cranks were marked.

Sounds like any motor for any car from any make. Motors are temper-mental. One may give you problems and one may never give you problems. Ecotecs are good motors, and like any other motor, will last as you take care of it.

Ahh, My cam gears have a triangle that I line up with a red link on my chain, I have a diamond on my intake cam that I lined up with with a green link on my chain, My crank sprocket has a mark that I lined up with the yellow link on my chain. They may be different from year to year. My engine specifically was not difficult to me. Of course I have done timing belts so maybe that helped. I'm not trying to disprove you just saying I found it an easy change for a timing chain.

all the 2.2's ive done had a hole in each cam gear and a slot in the head. you put a dowel pin or something the size of the hole in the cam gear and rotate the cam until the pin sinks into the slot in the head. its weird.
