I would :idb: it.
How much is it? I'm looking at the Sony D-SLR...10.2mp, same sensor as the 20D for $1,000.
Right now at this moment there are no other details about the camera other than it has 10.2 megapixels, unless Ive missed something somewhere.
I highly doubt (but I might be wrong) they would price it near the D70. Why would they when the platform is so popular, especially the D50. Depending on the features it has and the price it might be good they realeased this.
However, I highly doubt also many average people will notice the difference in quality from a D70 to this camera, unless they changed the image processor to something completely different, which I highly doubt also.
i "heard" that the prices would be around ~1k, but then again nobody knows for sure.
im glad this came out... hopefully it will drop the prices of other entry level DSLR's so i can buy one :P

If you guys really want to get serious about photography, dont get an entry level D-SLR.
Entry level-dslrs are cameras you grow out of.
High ends are cameras you grow into.
The D80 does look promising though.
Speculations from Ken Rockwell.
FORECAST
The Nikon D80 will be announced on August 9th, 2006. It's an amalgamation of the D200's 10 MP sensor and a few other parts grafted into a D70 body.
SPECIFICATIONS
It's almost identical to the D70s in most regards, except:
10 Megapixels, up from 6.
Works fine with old manual focus AI and AI-s lenses.
2.5" LCD, up from 2.0"
4.5 FPS, up from 3.
1/250 sync speed, down from 1/500.
Top panel illumination now switched on by twisting the power button, just like D200, D2X, etc. The D70 had a separate button. The D80 is an improvement.
Takes SD cards, not CF.
Rotary, not slider, viewfinder diopter control.
Slight rearrangement of buttons on rear.
Dedicated AF selection button on top of camera, a big improvement from D70 which required a menu to select between AF-S or AF-C.
Price: $899
True! But in respects I was going for others selling off their d70's for this one. Hopefully I can find someone that's selling off their canon high end w/ accesories + lenses just so they can switch over to this cam or something else. Who knows, I just need more equip.Originally Posted by Nemesis Digital
