A couple from the AMA Suzuki Superbike Showdown...
nothing too great, still rocking a point and shoot :S
dont take anything i say srsly. its the interwebs.
The nine mil shot is cool!
Nice DoF on the first one! Both are very sharp! What lense are you using on your d50?
Thanks man, that first one was my favorite from the entire day. I was using my friends Sigma 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6. I would love to buy it from him because currently the farthest zooming lense I have is a 18-55, but I think I'm going to save up for the Sigma 70-200 f/2.8. Got any reccomendations?
Not really, cause I'm not a nikon guy, but the 28-200 would be a great all around lens imo, but to be able to stop down to 2.8 would also be awesome. Really, you just have to think about what your primary purpose for the lens is going to be.

The 70/200 f2.8 would be a good fast lens. The 28/200 f2.8 across the zoom spectrum is unreal for action shots like the ones of the AMA, i think nikon and sigma both make one but they are expensive.

Sorry thats what i meant, I like the 18-200 Nikon VR lens also but the VR is not real usefull for action stuff.. I use a Sigma 28/70 f2.8 and a Sigma 70/200 f4.0 for my action shots and both work real well.

Yeh, that was my first time panning. It took a long time to get the hang of it, and to figure out which settings worked the best, but I think I got it.Originally Posted by imbosile

The "IS" for canon lenses and "VR" for nikons are not always the best way to go when the lens is only as fast as f/3.5 or 4.0 or whatever, a 2.8 lens will always be nice and to have the "IS" or "VR" on top of that will do the job for sure!

Yes, the IS is great to have and when you don't need it you can turn it off. Downside is the IS adds quite a bit more to the lense.Originally Posted by RUSH
