IM just using a point and shoot so I can only do a shot inbetween -2-2..hmm so maybe I should set it to more frames?

Oh I think I got it, I think ill try a five set one next tiem I take some pics.

SO you think shooting a -2, -1, 0, 1, and 2 ev would render better results? Ive heard the 3 set shots worked pretty good, but i think ill try a 5.

More the merrier! 5 is usually the best. I will shoot 9 sometimes, depends if there is a lot of shadows or not.

If its bright outside then just make sure your -ev is low enough. shoot one at -2 and see what it looks like, then maybe try a -2.5 and see what that does. Just as long as you can bring all the overexposed to a resonable exposure...

    How are you processing these?

Yeah mine only goesup as high as 2 and as low as -2 so anything in between I can do, unfortunately since its just a p&s. Im using Photoshop Cs2 9.0 for em, then slightly editing the curves a little, but im not doing as much as I want to.

Are you loading the photos through Automate, Merge to HDR, load the photos, come back to main screen click on image, then mode, then 16bit, it will open a box, and you want to click on I think its called Local adaptation, your photo will be all out of wack, click on the histogram link in that box, click bottom of histogram and slide the bottom over to the start of the shadow, anything after that is up to you and what you think looks good. Everything I just said is through CS3 so I hope its close to CS2....

Is that what you were doing? I wasnt happy with the results of HDR photos though PS though!

Yeah Ill have to try that. I was only going as far as after loading the images to merge int hdr, and then editing the curves slightly. Mauybe thats why it didnt turn out quite right either.

Yeah I know, I just figured I would chime in. It's basically the kit lens when I turn VR off anyway.

No, Save up and get the 18-200VR well worth it, and then go for the 10-20mm.

My next will be the 10-20mm, and then the 50-500mm

VR just stands for Vibration Reduction which help to steady the lens 2-3stop higher than what you are on.. basically allowing you to get a steadier shots at higher shutter speeds..

No definitely not, they do offer it on some of their top of the line lenses. But you can also get it on the cheapies. The lens I got was only 179.99 at Wolf. I was really surprised because they actually had the cheapest price of all the places I checked. (Showcase, Amazon, B&H, etc.)

Ah, okay, like Canon's IS (image stabilization).

That's a first, dude. They are usually the most expensive.

I had a similar experience with the Sigma 10-20mm lens. The price difference was marginal between picking it up at Wolf and buying mail-order so I went to Wolf.

Since I try not to post in this thread without posting a picture, here is a night shot of some junk by the road

It is a great lens. I like the distortion when taking up-close shots of an entire building. I have only used it once so I can't say if that will eventually get on my nerves but so far it is cool. I posted a couple pictures from the lens:
    here

    and here
