i love the dog but not the collar. is that a choker collar or just a chain style collar?

if its a choker style collar then i have a much better suggestion.

go to petsmart and get a large easy walk harness.

my dog is a jumper and leaper and every time i walk her she used to jump and leap at other dogs. with the easy walk harness if she tries to do any of that the way its designed it just turns her around and she just gives up. eventually she stops and its more comfortable and save for them as well.

Good suggestion, I just Googled the harness you recommended and I have no tried one of those harnesses before. I guess I just assumed all harnesses were similar. I've been through 2 harnesses that didn't work too well in terms of my dog pulling + the fabric deteriorating over time. A dog trainer recommended that I use the current collar I have because my dog is so strong so when he tries to pull it tightens and he learns to stop quickly. At first I was not a fan of it either but I have learned to like it since it can't fall apart and works well. I only use it when I am walking him though obviously.

yea the easy walk harness is different,. it goes around and behind their front legs so any time they try to pull or leap away, all you have to do is tug on the leash and it pulls them straight. it "forces" them to walk straight. sometimes they try to fight it but eventually give up and just learn that the harness makes them go straight.

the one you have works based on pain lol which your dog may or may not even care.

i have a bark collar and shock collar for extreme cases for my pup and she will fight it. i have used it before and saw her face twitching while she fought it and eventually stopping as it increased lol.

anywho the easywalk is much easier on their necks but achieves the same result and looks better when you are out in public walking your pup. Ours has held up wonderfully even after numerous swims in the lake after a year. not a sign of deteriorating.

I will keep that in mind though for real.
