They are pretty soft. Even my worst lens on my camera (yeah, its an SLR) could take much sharper photos than those.

You (the uninitiated) probably won't appreciate the difference of a large objective lens and larger camera sensor until you compare the results one next to each other.

All an SLR does is give you better tools to control the kind of picture you get. I still carry around my Canon ultracompact..... but lets not get silly here... there is absolutely nothing picture-wise that my Canon SD630 does that my SLR can't do 10x better. The ultracompact fits in my pocket better and can take video... that is why I still use it!

Besides.... anyone who knows anything knows that picture quality is 90% the lens and 10% the camera.
lol

1. i never said they were amazing. as i recall i used words like "decent". if you notice the subject isn't all glitz and glam either.

2. i MADE them softer. it was the look i was going for. if you notice they're actually WARMER as well. hence why i mentioned Paint.net as my editting software. some people arent all pirates and don't have access to PS or have the funds to buy it outright.

3. this was for the folks down playing their Point and Shoots and jumping on the SLR train prior to knowing how to use their PnS' to its full extent. this was a thread to make people into believers.

4. i do recall stating that i DO want an SLR. and I (the uninitiated) do appreciate the blah blah blah so on and so forth that you speak of. im no pro like yourself but i've learned quite a bit about SLR's and lenses from speaking with friends that use SLR's and asking a plethora of questions relating to such.

5. anyone who knows anything knows that picture quality is 95%(if not more) the Photographer and 5%(if not less) the camera/lens combination.
