Thinkfast: Teg is right. I took that pic with the camera on a tripod, slowed the shutter to like 2.5-3 secs. and snapped a pic towards an intersection. Your camera has a manual shutter option on it. I'm not sure how slow it will let it go on the slowest side, but you can try it.

It's easy. Get a tripod, fasten the cam to it, set the shutter to it's slowest setting, and without touching the cam too much snap a pic. If it's too busy, then speed it up a little, snap another, and repeat until you get the desired effect. You have to choose a busy place where the subjects will be coming during the time the shutter is open otherwise you won't catch much.
