This Code section shall not forbid any person who is not among those enumerated as ineligible for a license under Code Section 1611129 from transporting a loaded firearm in any private passenger motor vehicle in an open manner and fully exposed to view or in the glove compartment, console, or similar compartment of the vehicle; provided, however, that any person in possession of a valid permit issued pursuant to Code Section 1611129 may carry a handgun in any location in a motor vehicle.

What this says to me is that you can carry in your car as long as your allowed to by law(not a felon or just not allowed to by a certain condition). But it must be either, in plain view -or- in a compartment of your vehicle. the exception to this is if you are license to carry the gun ie ccw or what ever it is called.

so yes you can carry it in your car, just make sure it is plain sight, or in a compartment, and not concealed on you or stuffed in between the seats or door panel.
