Christians should be loving everyone, regardless of their background. Doctrine calls for this.

LEV 19:18 "'Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against one of your
people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.

PRO 10:12 Hatred stirs up dissension, but love covers over all wrongs.

The bible calls for Christians to be loving to everyone, regardless of their history, their wrong doings, their intentions, etc.

I couldn't agree with you more about religion interfering with peoples relationship with God.
