    Default 1911 Poll....need some help

I'm stuck between 3 right now. If anyone has any hands on with these let me know what you thought. If not give your opinion on which you'd rather own and why. For those who pick other, price range is $1200.

I would just build my own within the constraints of my $1200 budget, probably off of a Springfield platform.

I have absolutely no experience to do that. But I'll look into it. Got anywhere respectable to price parts?

That's what practice is for... But, you could always just pick out what you want and have a gunsmith fit and assemble everything for you.

I am not going to be up long tonight, but i will try and help you make an informed decision.

What exactley is this guns main job going to be?
Daily carry, carry once a week, occasional carry, range plinking, bbq gun? How big of a hand do you have?
    Have you ever shot/owned a 1911?
How many rounds a month are you going to shoot it?
Is it going to see any serious use?
Are you planning on modifying it at all?
    Why a $1200 budget?
A particular finish your looking for?
    3", 3.5", 4", 5", 6" BARREL?

I could go on and on and on with info for the 1911 platform. Answer these questions and then give us a run down of why you want to get into a 1911 platform. I am sure that with the collective minds on here we could help point you into a gun that is going to be better suited to your needs than some of the options you listed above! I am not saying these are not suitable options, i am just saying that i would like to help you get into a better gun for the price range.

Why would you buy a top of the line corvette when an entry level ferrari would be so much better! (hope the analogy makes sense)

What exactley is this guns main job going to be? Fun shooting and home protection

Daily carry, carry once a week, occasional carry, range plinking, bbq gun? Probably won't carry it, just to shoot on occasion.

How big of a hand do you have? 6" from tip of middle finger to bottom of palm, about 3- 3.5 inch across the palm

    Have you ever shot/owned a 1911? No

How many rounds a month are you going to shoot it? maybe 300

Is it going to see any serious use? No, but needs to be able to if needed.

Are you planning on modifying it at all? maybe the trigger (depending on the pull) and some grips

Why a $1200 budget? Just what I have to spend on a gun

A particular finish your looking for? SS, Nickel or Titanium....but would settle for about anything

    3", 3.5", 4", 5", 6" BARREL? 3.5-4

    BTW reps for the analogy

awesome. $1200 is alot of money to spend on any gun comparing to what you could get in the polymer world.

Let me put some info together for you over the next day or so and I will try and help you get something more tailored to you!

Dont forget the commander sized offerings from Springfield (not shown below are the entry level GI spec champions).

Stainless Loaded Champion (also comes in OD/Black)

    Springfield Lightweight Operator Champion

For $1200 I would get a Sig GSR 1911 or I just bought a RIA 38 super that shoots great, I think with a little work it would be an awesome gun. Or you could buy a used Colt and have a gunsmith do a little work to it.

there is nothing wrong with a 9mm CCO style 1911. Danny and I are working on picking up a caspian frame and slide set on sale right now and building some new CCO' guns. If your interested in getting in on the deal to possibly lower our total operating costs pm danny. I am sure between the both of us we can cut you a deal on labor and what not to put it together custom for you. PM from me inbound about details.

    for anyone possibly wondering:

Government Size (5" bbl, full size frame)

Commander Size (4.25" bbl, full size frame)

Officer Size (3"bbl with shorten frame)

CCO - (commander slide with officer frame)
    A fantastic example of one
