appreciate it. I ended up cutting the fore end of the stock down some more. I also put together a nice little kimber mauser. I am also in the middle of working on a nice 1911 conceal carry with all wilson combat internals and a 10" ar CQB weapon.

So you said that you are going to dehorn it? What all tools are you buying? We need to get a compiled list together so we dont double buy. I decided not to buy the colt officer instead i bought the High standard crusader. the crusader has alot of options from the factory (the company that imports them buys there internals from brownells as a kit) its a great shooter out of the box. my main reason for this is that i can sell all the "new" components to one of my referal customers and make half of my money back to make a match barrel. anywho.. I do not know which direction to go with the ar right now. I have a custom made 5.5" flash hider to make my weapon 16" atf complied. anywho.. i am thinking of just rocking my suppressor on it and changing it out if the dnr shows up. i mean seriously, how many people have actually had there serial numbers run to see if they are pistol uppers, sbr uppers, or rifled uppers. Anywho..

probably not many people get caught. But i think the consequences out weight the risk. just pay the 200$ (or whatever it is) SBR tax and dont put one of those silly 5.5" flash suppressors on it.

Yes i am going to attempt a dehorn, using a little bit of filing, stoning and cratex wheels.

    as far as the tools:

    - 8" half round file
    - 8" pilar file #0 swiss
    - .220" radius beaver tail jig
    - trigger track stone
    - 6"x1"x1" fine india stone (for stoning primiary and relife angles on the sear
    - marvell sear jig
    - brownells trigger stirrup die
    - cratex wheels

this is what i have/am getting this week to get me rolling. Will be in addition to my dremel and other 'normal' tools.

when i get around to doing fire control i may need to get a hammer jig, i have to look into that a bit more.

also, what do u think of this. i am thinking of measuring the diameter of the hammer and sear pins, and finding a supplier. I would buy longer version, half inch or so wider than the frame. That way you could put them through the frame like normal but would stick out the side, so you could drop the sear and hammer on them and inspect the alignment for safety and function. Considering you obviously cant see them inside the frame. They sell jigs for it, but they are like 80 bucks. What ya think?

I had a stubby for a while, no reason to cut though IMO. Mine was 11.5" with a short stroke piston retrofit, larue rails, EOT552, Standard Birdcage,DNTC muzzle break,XS .080 Front post, Magpul CTR skeleton stock, UTG flip up rears... sounds nice, but it didn't group for shit, and it made far too much noise.

Edit: remove birdcage, i have no idea why i put that there.

Why do you want a shorty?

Sold it to a cop because i didn't want to pay tax and surrender rights.

and True Giant, nice work. love the C&R pieces, you feel like tappin rail mounts on my Mauser and Mosin?

What is the degree of accuracy youre getting with the self tapping?

I want a stubby just for fun mainly. I guess the same reason everyone else wants one. Im not kickin in doors for a living or that would be the reason. overall im not too worried about it. The money towards going stubby will be paying for more training instead.
