lets i used to play piano, tenor saxophone (damn school band), and guitar.
is piano/key board hard to learn... i play guitar and i've heard if u can do one... you can do the other??????????
anyone with working fingers and a semi noral brain can learn to play....i see no relation between learning on the two...the finger(s) used for note would be totally different and not related and the guitar tab is totally different than piano sheet music...where did you hear that if you can do one you can do the other??? :confused:Originally Posted by Killer

hmmmmm, i played piano for 6 years and i tried guitar and it certianly wasn't a walk in the park...interesting
you sure they said that PLAYING them was similar not that they are just similar instruments (both use a struck string to produce the notes)??? not saying you are wrong, just kinda interesting...i'd like to know the similaritys, might help make learning easier.
i hear ya... i can't play piano... but i'm pretty good at guitar...
and yeah i'm sure... i've had sooooooo many people say it... i think it's cause the notes... if u can hear the notes on one.. u can hear them on the other... which is true... i can play chords on a guitar and go find them on a piano very easily, but i can't play chords...
ohhhhhhh, ok...makes a little more sense now. i was thinking like if you can look at written out guitar music and play it on the guitar then you should be able to look at some piano music and be able to play it on the piano...
but yeah, percususive and string instruments are best for training an ear...wind instruments and such can't really produce chords
I used to play the clarinet!
flute
clarinet
trombone
alto sax
tenor sax
drums
flute
trumpet
adn a few others
New question.... for all who used to play an instrument... Y did u quit???

sorry... i don't play ska... i used to love the music tho!!!!!!!
I play alto sax and have doodled around on some other WW's. I think that once you learn to play it never leaves you. I have played for about 13 yrs. Well- I should say 12 years, because I have not picked it up in over a year. No time for it, and no room in my car....lol. I never thought about it until now, damnit.

I own a guitar and a bass, but I play a few other instruments. I know some basic piano, and I tried tuba in high school during band class when I would get bored watching 7th and 8th graders learn music.

I played trumpet all through middle school and high school. I quit because I hurt my shoulder playing sports. From that point on, every time I picked my trumpet up I screamed in pain. It was not fun marching my whole Junior year without an instrument. I do miss it though.
i played the trumpet all through middle and high school.
I play a little drum set...and played trumpet all through middle and high school...really should pick it up again...
