Default ATTN: ALL GOLFERS (PRO OR AMATEUR) **Post your bios with pics**

So I was talking to someone lately and didnt think there were a large amount of folks on here that are heavy into the gentlemans sport! However I have a feeling im wrong! So introduce yourself and describe your experience! I think a lot of folks would be suprised at who plays here! I hope that this thread can open up a few oppurtunities to meet people out of an automotive environment and maybe take a meet to a course or driving range day! Oh and post your collections of bag tags!

    A little of my background

I have been playing since Freshmen year of high school. Earned a letter in high school and was team captain my senior year. I set the school record at a 9 hole high school tournament with a 1 under score of 35 at Cherokee Run Golf Club. I was awarded a golf scholarship to Clayton State University and played for approximately 3 months collegiately until I was involved in an accident with a semi. 4 months of rehab later I was no longer playing the way I used to. I was close to a scratch golfer, however now I could barely break into the 70s. Fast forward to today... Ive started back up hope to compete in a few open amatuer tournaments this coming summer.

    Whats in my bag:

    Titleist 975D 10.5*

Ben Hogan Apex Plus Irons 4-PW ( Original set of MP-29s at home)

I started playing really early. Then I played AJGA for a while, and one year was top 25 in my division and placed a lot that year. Thats the only real thing I have won. Then I stopped taking lessons and was bad for a while.

I have worked at a golf course in Roswell for three years. And I seem to start playing golf in the summer when i can play when the course is closed

We just moved and because of some piece of property we have I am a member of a bunch of courses: Reynolds Plantation, Great Waters, and a few others.

    In my ping hoofer bag:

    Titleist 975 J Driver- 10 degrees
    Titleist 975 F three wood
    Titleist 804 irons 3-p wedge
    Cleveland 56 degree sand wedge
Titleist Scotty Cameron Newport Terryllium Putter

I played on my Varsity team all four years in high school up in Michigan. Only the 3rd Freshman in my school history to earn 4 Varsity letters. 2nd Team All-State my sophomore year, All-state team my junior year. Our team won the State Championship my Freshman, sophomore and senior years. I used to hold the state record for Freshman low score in the 1993 Michigan High School State Tournament (74-77), not sure if its still my record. Earned full ride to San Diego State, red shirted freshman year, transferred to Michigan State University, walked on. Played the Big Ten pre-season tournament, and SEC Invitational, broke my arm the week after and never played NCAA golf again. I was a 4 handicap all through high school.

Driver: Cleveland Launcher 400 CC Regular Shaft
Callaway Warbird 4 Wood, grafalloy shaft (Basically a 3.5 Wood)
3-PW: Titleist DCI, Tru-Lite Rifle shafts. De-Lofted by 2 degrees
54, 57 degree Cobra Trusty Rusty wedges
    BeCu Ping Anser 2 putter

and I rotate in either a Callaway Warbird 3-Wood (grafalloy shaft) or a Snake-Eye 60 degree wedge.

I aint going to lie, I was one hell of a player in high school and college. Probably coulda played some Nike Tournaments after college (now its called Hooters Tournaments I think), but probably never make it onto the PGA. I dont play as much as I used to, golf is an EXPENSIVE ASS SPORT! I was fortunate to live the Country Club life up in Michigan where I didn't pay for shit. Nowadays, I'm happy when I shoot 80. Rick Smith, from The Big Break on the golf channel was my teacher all through high school. I've played some of the best courses in the country, (The Ocean Course on Kiawah Island, InnisBrook, Pinehurst #2, Pinehurst #3, Medinah, Oakland Hills, The Bear, Blue Monster, Bethpage Black and many more). I've played with Lee Trevino (I won 2 dollars from Lee in the 10th grade), Bernhard Langer, Jesper Parnevik, Tom Kite and Duffy Waldforf.

Sigh, I miss when I used to be good. Golf is very frustrating to me now, I can't hit the shots I used to hit when I was in high school.

I'm down for a driving range session!

When I was 5 years old I would walk with my dad when he played. He had 3 clubs for me to swing with, two irons had wooden shafts and the other was a putter.

I started playing serious when I was 12 years old and played on the junior tour when I lived in Arkansas. We lived on a golf course and in a matter of 1 year I was ranked 2nd in my age division and shooting in the low 80's. By the time I was 13, I was out driving my dad and hitting the ball 300 yards.

When I was 13 years old I had a miracle round and shot a -2 on my home course(Springdale Country Club) in Springdale, Arkansas. Our house was right next to the 8th hole tee box. I continued to play junior golf and then lettered in highschool when I lived in Florida. I played in the Florida highschool state championship and was leading the tourny going into the last hole, only to blow it on the green with a 3 putt. I quit playing golf after that. I was so upset with what had happened, I swore to never pick up a club again.

Before my back surgery from a car accident 3 years ago, I was a 2 handicap. Now, I'm maybe a 6 - 8 or so. I can still shoot high 70's to low 80's, but I was much happier shooting 72-74, lol.

I competed in the REMAX long drive championship at Laurel Springs golf course back in 2000 at a regional. I was using a standard length graphite shaft driver (44 inches), and qualified with a 380 yard drive. Believe it or not, 380 wasn't good enough. There were a couple sponsored guys out there that looked liked a couple linebackers weighing 260-280 lbs using 48 and 50 inch drivers hitting the ball 400+yards. These guys were animals. I was amazed watching them land the ball where my ball would finish. I was only 185 lbs compared to them so I think I did pretty good.

Even though I have two 3 inch screws in my back, I can still spank one out there 300+ yards. I hit one last year the went 360. My buddy hits it even further than I do and last year he hit one 430 yards. He's 6'2 and 260 lbs though and can generate some serious club head speed. He's also a scratch golfer.

We went to TPC Sawgrass last year, I've played Bay Hill 4 times for a tourney, and TPC Sugarloaf about a dozen or so times. I can't even begin to name all the courses I've played in georgia. If it cost between $70-120, I've played it. One of my favorites is in Savannah Georgia called the Savannah Harbour Club. Beautiful course, normally with a good amount of wind.

I like playing the Stone Mountain courses. lol I played 36 holes out there one day and shot 73 and 75. Lake Lanier courses are fairly easy and are normally good for a round in the 70's.

    Titleist 975D 9.5 driver
    Titleist irons
    Snake eyes 54 deg wedge
    Snake eyes 60 deg wedge
    Two ball putter

I have played both the woodlands and Chateau courses at Chateau Elan about 3 dozen times at least. I use to play there 2 times a week. Nice courses. I like the fun little par 3 course they have too.

I played in a 4 person scramble out at Chateau Elan a couple years ago and as a group (cough* I carried them *cough), we shot -19. Two of the guys playing with us were a 20 handicap and my dad is about a 12 handicap. All 3 of the guys in our group including my pops were 63 years old or older.

I love golf as well. I actually played at East Lake last Thursday. What a sweet course. I walked in with my dirty ass shoes and the guy was like let me take those for you and I will put them in your locker. I got to my locker and they were shined. They looked new. I wanted to quit after I hit a drive on someone elses green while they were putting. Damn wind. lol
