It's also called a GFL (Georgia Firearms License) and its good for about 5 years. You don't register guns in the state of GA and the law is actually pretty vague.

Places off limit include PUBLIC GATHERINGS not limited too:
churches or church functions
political rallies or functions
athletic or sporting events
publicly owned or operated buildings (pretty sure Highway rest areas fall under here. MARTA, bus stops)
establishments at which alcoholic beverages are sold for consumption on the premises

Keep in mind to that everyone meeting up in a parking lot to chill might be considered a Public Gathering. The Public Gathering is a big debate among LEOs and its a hit or miss. I think one guy with a GFL was arrested in McDonald's.
