3+ base 1= 4

and so on....

but back to finding the decimal equiv. Just as .23 means 2/10 + 3/100, so when you can express a number less than 1 in base 5, say the number .342 (base 5), you mean 3/5 + 4/25 + 2/125. If you let .23 = a/5 + b/25 + c/125 then multiplying both sides by 5...
