Street Racing is a crime and I realize it, but if somebody starts messing with me on the interstate then I'll usually run them if I'm in the Datsun. If I'm in the Yaris, I don't even waste my gas trying.

    Excellent reasoning...well said.

I'd race on a street...I like the atmosphere is all. I don't want to take a risk with other people's lives though, as well as the problem with cops.

i'm a spectator. i've done lil bull-ish runs with friends and a lil light to light before and honestly so long as it's deserted, to where you and the other driver are at risk, if that's your choice, do it. it all comes down to choice with everything IMO. we all know the potential consequences for EVERYTHING we do. it's on you if you go ahead and follow through.

    Wow... back from the dead?

After reading this thread, I'm still trying to figure out how people consider mtn runs as a form of street racing. Sure, everyone involved may be exceeding the speed limit, but that doesn't make it racing. Nearly everyone on 285 is exceeding the speed limit, so are they all racing?

This is an old ass thread. I remember reading this a long time ago..

I normally will do a quick take off with some ricer fag at some redlights just to let him know that I am faster than him. Or just to see what their car can really do (I've had a couple to just take off and leave me) It's all really in fun.. and I don't get crazy if there's traffic. I'll just catch up really quick and just putt putt again.

I did it for years, realized the error of my ways... won't do it anymore. Not my life I'm worried about, it's the innocent people that get caught up because there in the wrong place at the wrong time. There are just too many uncontrolled factors.

well my opinion is that it is stupid, but fun at the same time....
the adrenaline rush when you are doing over 120 is priceless, but if you get caught by the po po, then everything is down to time locked up and money in fines, thats why i said stupid and fun.
i stopped street racing back in june 2005 when i crashed my dc2, the accident was bad, but i was lucky that all the damage was to the car and not me nor other people because i ended up over the center of the street and stopped on the other side of the road with oncoming traffic...... since that day i said that i wouldnt street race anymore, ill just take it to the track and thats it, theres too much to loose and nothing to win, your life is priceless and you shouldnt risk it over a stupid decision. well thats what i think.
also my car is slow as fuck.....

lol. Way to take a quote out of context...

The point is, if two or more people are driving on a road, and they happen to be exceeding the speed limit, it doesn't automatically mean that they are 'street racing'.

BTW I'm not trying to justify street racing.

If a friend and I go on a 'mountain run', and we are both maintaining a brisk pace (5 - 10mph over posted limit), that doesn't automatically mean that we are racing. Yeah, we are speeding, but it's not a contest of speed.

Maybe my idea of a 'mountain run' is different than what goes on there...

Ok...I understand that street racing under the wrong type of conditions can be dangerous and is dangerous if you are in heavy traffic and you are not at all an experienced driver, especially at high speeds. But, racing and or street racing is part of the world of import tuning. Import(s) period. Why tune your car and and sit somewhere just to show that you spent money on fixing your car up. It is pointless, you have 500 horses but you don't drive. I have seen many a drivers with cars they spent 10's of thousand(s) plus dollars on stage 3 upgrades and they don't even drive over 70mph. If you are going to be just an enthusiast then get a honda and rice it up. But if you get a 350z and upgrade it so that you have something that has power but no one has ever seen it in action then it defeats the whole purpose of it all. This isn't fast and the furious that was just a movie that was done due to street racing and the fact that you could get major speed from small cars such as imports.

Notice: This is my OPINION. I am not looking to provoke those who have seen others killed in accidents or have had accidents themselves. But we are talking about grown adults who choose to do what they want and make there own decisions. Consequence follow those decisions but we are adults. And i feel that telling me that I am wrong for something because you don't do it or stopped doing it is not your place. But to advocate racing in a safe area so that innocent people don't get hurt is not a bad thing but is good so that there are less things blamed on those who are import enthusiast and get pulled over and harassed just because i have a catback or i have a car that is modified. That is all.

    Also just another note...

I believe that it has become a crime due to the carelesness of past generations. Because street racing is not new. The people have change and where the culture has move to as far as, taking a import perspective has. But it won't stop. It will just change and adapt. Like we have. It will become something that may eventually become accepted amongst those who oppose it, being those who don't race. And my eventually cause us as Importers to come up with an idea that will help us acheive the freedom that we want.

Driving up 285 with the windows down, radio off listening to the sound of the engine i shift gears, during a warm summers night. soon it will be here. Real drivers know what im talking about the sound of your turbos and blow off valve. Catback in tune with the rest of the music your car is making to your ears...Think about it.

Do you believe in the above quote? "Street racing" has always been a crime. Speeding has been a crime for a long goddamn time. It has nothing to do with carelessness. Later, QD.

no street racing does kill, i admit that. but you see a few years ago i was doing drugs and i did hang around gangsters.... but the love for speed and cars pulled me away from all that type of life style aka all that bullshit!

i personally think that if i didn't have this pasion for cars that i would have had a very diffrent life right now. so QD i don't give a fuck what you think, i too have gone over this subject with you before.. same old shit.. Later, Maniac.

its a bit different when you have to look at the family of the person you killed innocently driving by when you hit them driving recklessly.

maybe you should have tried birdwatching or knitting instead to get you out of the gang

in what instance would one HAVE to race someone on the street?

when theres a viper and a POS racing for a hot chick. J/K

people i know street race all the time in the summer out near where i live in the country on a stretch a road that is only traveled by deer late at night, no lights on the street so you can clearly see if nothing is coming or not plus its a half mile stretch anyway. I watch everytime. I see no harm in it except for their own but its a field on either side and some trees at the beginning so theres no much to crash into but either at the track or on that stretch, shits gonna get fucked up just the same. I do not condone street racing in a damn neighborhood but i do not see any harm in the situation that i have stated.
