Street racing is a bad idea. I really try not to most of the time but i have to admit that I do occationally. I don't ever plan it or anything like that. The only time I'll really do it is if i'm on a clear highway with another car and I'll only pull for 20-30 mph then slow back down and stop it at that. No traffic weaving none of that shit. It's still dangerous and not a good idea tho...

like i said before i norm.. would have been the first to jump at a street race but after almost getting rearended by cars running 65+mph on the highway it makes you look at things different yea i cant blame nobody but myself all im im saying is if you are gonna do it be careful

I do it whenever I get the chance. It's a totally different experience from going to a track. On the street, you have to judge which people you want to challenge/accept challenges from based on what mods you can see/hear on a car. Generally this limits mods on a car (ie no race gas or slicks) which can make a world of difference on some cars. More interesting to see these types of races where people bring out sleepers and cars made for just this type of racing. Line up...and go....track days are ok, but a far drive and like I said, a different experience.
Of course this doesn't mean go weeving in and out of traffic...find a deserted area (industrial parks work well) and get 1 or 2 people (not a huge crowd) to spot for potential traffic.![]()
you need to make sure you know exactly how to handle your car, at exactly what speeds. kids these days get shit done to there car and test it out right in the streets, and screw up and die. i mean, how many times do you hear about accidents on the news concerning that crap?
if you wanna race, make sure you know what your doing to every extent. make sure you know how to correct mistakes at high speeds, etc... make sure you know your car and the limits that you can push.
i mean, i think the track is where you can show what you really have.
i used to be out and about every weekend sat - sun on the southside. even tho i got arrested for racing, that wasnt even the final draw, it was just a simple thought of its not worth it. i thought abotu all the dumb shit i used to do, doing 130+ on public roads, just waiting for something to happen, all that racing means nothing. i went to the track one day and it was a hell of alot more fun. And i said to myself if i die street racing how stupid i would feel.
all the posts about make sure that u do tihs and do that is stupid.. u cant make sure shit, when you racing someone and that bad thing happens (bad tire - bump in the road) ur gonna get fucked up..
i understand that there isn't any DEFINITE way to make sure. shit happens. but the best way to test out anything, i'd believe is on the tracks.
close friends have died from fucking around, "all in good fun". it's not fun anymore if ur dead. i believe people can agree on that.
yep, my friend died in a a car wreck that had nothin to do with racing.. that might have really made me think that im not invincible, see your best friend @ 7 and by 730 hes gone forever, makes u think alot..aint even worth it.
i used to street race when I had my car, now im losin my license and I had to sell my car. well now I got some time to think about the stupid shit I did when I had my car...but does that mean im gonna stop havin fun once in a while when I get my shit back?? no...but im almost 90% sure that I will be takin the car to track then going to street race and put others lives in danger...NAH MEAN???
BUY MY HATCH <--click the link, cuz.
if done in relatively safe area's (business parks, industrial parks, empty/no traffic roads) i'm ok with it, but when people do that stupid shit on I-75 when there are cars everywhere I feel like just slamming them into the median. I drive for a living and I've seen people SEVERAL times racing down I-75 in the middle of the day. Thats just flat out retarded.

What is funny is that you probably don't think the racing isn't organized either.Originally Posted by Flip

It isn't like, just go drive around looking for stoplights and race...
I only race in bumpy parking lots, cuz thats how I roll
I remember I saw nem one time when he was going to Taco Mac.....damn the car is really loud. Don't tell him though, it'll break his heart.
What is funny is they don't want street racing but:
1. You can get got damn Accords, Camrys and Altimas with 250+hp
2. Mods are readily available for most anycar
3. You go to pep boys and they push octane boosters and blah blah additives
4. In car ads, all they advertise is power, hp or some damn car drifting or doing figure 8s...
So its a freaking paradox. They want us to buy all these more and more powerful cars then they want us to all drive 30mph and have 50 airbags.
Its like dating a fine ass model with the body of one of those video chicks but you can't have sex with her.

I agree Matt, street racing can be organized and setup to be as safe as possible, although the act itself isn't ..Originally Posted by HalfBaked
I totally agree, its a totally different experience on the streets compared to at the track. People that street race know the risks they are taking and for the most part keep it as safe as possible for everyone around them. I do agree that is dangerous and there are many risks but its just something about it that gets one hooked.Originally Posted by SilverJester
I'll admit that I do race on the streets often and lately I've been meaning to slow down on that, especially cause I'm working on a case I have with Cobb County, me getting arrested for speeding/reckless driving ..
But here's where you're wrong. The products state, simply, on the item's packaging, that it is for off-road use only. Just because they sell the stuff to add power to a car, doesn't mean that it makes it ok to go out and risk regular people's lives. Later, QD.Originally Posted by 1SICKLEX
Exactly, hell everyday traffic is basically racing. 200hp is now the norm, not the exception. 10 years ago, 200hp said something, not anymore.Originally Posted by JITB

after reading this thread, i found the consensus is this:
the few people who have been out racing in the past 2 years know what its like nowadays.
and the ones agianst its main thing is killing others etc by weaving in and out of traffic.
so heres my two cents. i am neither for or agianst street racing. i dont care one way or another. i believe the feel is uncomparable. those that compare it to drag racing at a track need to go and experience both. it is like comparing solo2 autocrossing to a real road course; two totally different feelings. i agree the individuals that are weaving in and out of traffic at breakneck speeds, barely avoiding cars and causing wrecks are a danger to those in their cars and the ones around them. but, THEY ARE NOT THE ONES RACING. and those who come out on the weekends will agree. the street racing done nowadays is no longer the same as the 5pm 60-120 in heavy traffic on 85 that the world seems to think of it. it isnt the dig races in parking lots that cross over roads indangering the passerby. it is racing done on EMPTY stretches of highway with friendly cars in front and back to get rid of the chance of any person not involved being injured. yes, people could still die. the people driving, or looking out could die. but you could hit the wall at road atlanta and die. you could get shot in a school shooting, and die. someones tire could pop on 75 and they swerve into you and you die. our lives are full of dangers and the threat of death is a wary one as there is not one activity that can not cause you harm. to those that race, i only ask that you take the time and precautions that are needed to make it as safe as possible. after that, your on your own. but at least then, when its just you and the car your racing thats at risk, and you begin to honk it off, you both have decided to risk it, and know the consequences, and its only your lives on the line, not a grandma doing 50 your going to weave around.

i have to agree with him the most i almost died that night on the highway did i deserve it that is to the man up stairs but like i said i look at it different nowOriginally Posted by fight club

I say they should just put bleechers on 75 and paint a fucking grid by the bell south building and get it over with. OVER!
/////////////// haxing ///////////////
That and allocating a straight, flat, well-paved, well-lit highway with good scenery for top end racing every week would be good shit. Night runs would put a huge dent in highway runs.
/////////////// haxing ///////////////
Road Conditions is what i base my judgement on.
Just make sure that if a mistake is made, others will not go down with you.
Idiots that race when the roads are slick or in heavy traffic or around meighborhoods are idiotic.
Keep an unsafe activity as safe as possible, please!.
Leisa and S. 4 Life NM?
talkin bout dangerous....everything is dangerous...chillin at your house some one might bust in on you and shoot you in your head... so danger is everywhere you cant avoid it. however calculating the risk you are taking is very important. like the videos they showed in drivers ed and in school when drunk drivers or racers killed some1 else but they survived- when you watch it you might blow it off but if you really put yourself in the drivers position and think about if you killed some1 and you survived wtf are you gonna do?
also not too long ago a friends friend of mine was racing/or going fast (dont know what car) he crashed and he killed his fucking bro who was sitting in the passenger seat- think about that- thats some serious shit.
i aint gonna lie i race n shit its fun.
OORAH BITCHES!!!

Also, what the fuck do you race? You drive a DOHC KA s13?!
streetracing isnt cool at all..i think it should be handled on the track. i got my license suspended for being stupid when i was like 17... once you get your shit taken, you look around and realize all the soccer moms and kids around you... and you take for granted your rights... it sucks. just dont do it. :'[
agian, what soccor moms and lil kids are driving on say 985 at 3 in the morning? just wondering because it seems everyone keeps linking street racing to dumbasses SPEEDING.Originally Posted by milano pink
