Again, not trying to ad contreversy, just playing devils advocate.

When I think of a track car, I think of a car that is quick as hell, upgraded as shit, but has the war wounds of its battles.

I would question a drift/ track car that is in mint condition and doesnt have a single rock chip or bug spot on the front end.

I dunno, if your brave enough to drift, why not be brave enough to leave the front bumper on.

Again, not trying to piss people off, just get an understanding on a subject I dont know much about, but willing to learn.

Hitting a cone on a fiberglass bumper has enough force to crack it. Not only crack, but possibly break an entire piece off. Ive seen it happen. On my stock bumper though, I can probably plow cones all day, but since its ABS, it wont hurt it for the most part.

So do alot of drift cars have fiberglass bumpers/ body kits?? I would think for weight purposes urethane would be lighter??

It is not so much that the kit will crack but the force when you hit a cone will pull down and back on the bumper cover and will rip the holes out. I know at Drift Expo I saw Dan destroy the front lip and bust the cover after hitting a cone and one car completly ripped off the bumper cover when he hit a cone.. Basically think of a rubber cone as a hand, when you hit it with speed it 'grabs' the cover and pulls becuase the asphalt provides the friction to 'keep it in place' so to speak.

Now what about the side skirts though. since the car is slidding side ways isnt the side skirts vulnerable to the same damage or no? why not take the side skirts off too?

i think you are way more likely to hit a cone with your front bumper than you sideskirt

No no no no, the sideskirts block the potential damage to the doors. Everybody knows damage to the doors is unacceptable because thats where the flux capacitor is stored.

Urethane isn't lighter than fiberglass. I know from experience.
