    Default Face Book Groups.

Who thinks that the facebook groups like (buy, sell, and trade automotive goodies) have affected the activity here in Import Atlanta.
I feel like there is less going on in here by the day and it sucks because Import Atlanta has been the import site for the longest time and I just think its unfair for one site to just come and take over.
What are your thoughts on this.

I think FB in general has destroyed almost every automotive forum.

However I also think it's cyclical and people will eventually filter back to the REAL community that supports them.

    Why would a buy/sell/trade group replace a forum for a way of life/entertainment/hobby ?
IA is for talking and reminiscing on cars/build/meets etc... Now as far as Facebook all together as mentioned before has hurt many Forums.

I'm on both daily, and honestly, its 90% easier to sell parts off of, but it is rather annoying with no rules, people just post pictures of a fender and some gsr blades and says car for sale, not mentioning anything to help a sell.

but I do find myself stupid awesome deals on it!
so i swing back and forth from here and there

Thats why we sold IA. Not sure if Forums will bounce back..maybe, maybe not.. Time & Support will tell... However, easiest way to get IA Back in the game is to do events... " IA " events.. Car shows, races, meets etc.. Word of mouth at this point wont be of much help. Hassan and company need to put a little $$$ and invest in those type of events.. doing tweaks to a website with light traffic .. Wont really help much either. Or going to events and taking pictures of other events.. That strategy is played out. Paul and I got burnt out of doing events etc.. However, still had a lot more to go..all you hear on the street is , IA has died.. Not a good rep to have. Must spend more time doing events vs. Website tweaks.. Or split up the work.. Just my $0.02.

Honestly, alot of us just lost faith in the place when Paul and Julio sold it. Then, when the board was down for like 854 years alot of us just strayed away and never made our way back. I was far from as active in the scene as I used to be up until about a year ago, but never had made my way back here. I was glad to hear Hassan bought this place, and have been lurking again since. I'd love to see this place back up to the popularity level it had even just 4-5 years ago. I'll be around more now obviously as I'm back in another import, and to keep up with shows in case I decide to bring the Exped out to play.

I don't think a FB group or FB will ever hurt a good solid forum, they're different things.

Nope, hasn't hurt them.. It has dominated every single local/state forums. Only forums that were not affected as much were national forums.. Believe it or not, local/state forums like or similiar to IA have pretty much slow down.

dunno... traffic and activity has been exponentially higher than when we bought it... A lot of these "website tweaks" bring traffic to this site from other places on the web and facebook- which you may not see because it's behind the scenes.

Thanks for the advice, it's a long term project for us so no worries it'll get there.

Everyone uses Facebook so why not just advertise ia on Facebook I know y'all have a group on Facebook but that's not enough. I know most of you hate drifting but that's what's popular in the car scenes right now and everything drifting related is being shared via Facebook through other drifting forums.. If you want activity you have to attack it from what's the biggest thing going on right now. I use this forum a lot but most people on here are of a different spectrum then me. Majority of people see this site as like a Honda based website. I would prefer to come on here then use then use the Facebook buy sell trade but almost everything I need is on there but like people already mentioned there are no rules and it sometimes gets annoying when someone sells something and only types 4 words about the item. Holding events will deff help attract people to this website for sure and is probably your best bet besides sharing across Facebook.

To add another cent or two on the reputation thing. IA has developed a not so good reputation because of negativity. It's nothing to go to another local, or national for that matter, forum and see folks talking bad about how the members treat other members on here. Aside from people taking things more serious than necessary on here, a main reason I stopped being an asshole was for this very reason. The last few months of my moderating were spent trying to clean up threads in the CAR PICS section to get rid of unnecessary comments and arguments. Way, way back, it wasn't like that. Now there is always someone who has to come into a CAR PIC thread and start BS that doesn't need to be started. It has led to a lot of people trashing this site. Too many threads with warriors and no chiefs. Personally, I don't find it enjoyable.

    That's my take on things.

Sorta like what catnips doing now. Trying to start pointless drama to entertain himself. Every time someone post something on this site there are people with a negative outlook who bashes the post/pic. Not everything that gets posted will be of your liking. If you don't like it just say it to yourself and move on. I think since the site slowed down people have tried to start drama to keep the site going and that's deff not the way to go it just makes people not want to come on here. So many experts on here but those experts would rather bash a newb then be helpful.

I see what you mean and it makes sense. But on the flip side, one can comment their contrasting opinion, but in a respectful way. Instead of just coming in guns blazing.

I appreciate criticism but there is a difference in critiquing and bashing. A lot of members on this forum should learn the differences between the two. There are a log of intelligent people on here who tend to get to carried away and forget to realize not everyone knows them or knows how to take their comments.

I tend to fall into this category. I have a very dry sense of humor... Sometimes it doesn't translate over a computer.

The best way to connect with people is fb it just cant be beat. You get a personal connection with folks. I had some parts on sale for 3 months put them up for sale in a car group and sold them in one day to a guy in az. You just cant beat it. Ia has a terrible rep from new people to the area. I dont even look on many forums much as much. Most of my browsing are on big forums. Ia has always seemed a little behind the rest of the internet world. And yea the SF forums are just chilling...lol. we seem to interact so much with people on fb and twitter, instagram it just works out for us.

I know you have to make money after investing into ImportAtlanta but I am sad to say Id rather just see the site go away then to tarnish the name any further.
As it was said before already you can't even mention IA at meets or among friends without it being talked about badly now. I wouldn't want to see you and the others invest anymore of your money into a lost cause. I miss the old days of this forum but those are long gone and will not return at any cost.
Julio got out just at its peak and decline that lucky bastard and Paul made a lucky decision just in time. Thank for all the time and effort you and others have put back into the site Atif and RG but its time to abandon ship

Since people supposedly talk bad about ImportAtlanta (I've never heard anyone) why not just change the name ? New owners, new name? Since y'all have made a lot of changes people won't notice it due to the bad things said about "ImportAtlanta."

You could setup an event show casing the new name and all the new feature of the forum at the event. It would probably help to have a decent Facebook page posting constant pictures that can be shared with said forum name labeled across the corner of the pictures kinda like what function/form and all the other Facebook pages do. Give aways also attract people to your website as I've seen pics on Facebook and joined forums just because I saw them in my newsfeed. It would be cool to see cars I see on the forum in my news feed. There are a lot of nice cars on here that belong to local members that I'd rather see in my Facebook news feed then some baller g35 that's located in Cali that I will never see in person. These are just a few ideas that may help with the reviving of the forum. Starting constant drama is not a helpful idea. Even though a good bit of people on here can't stand me this is deff one of my favorite forums to visit.

Changing the name would not be the same, and letting the website go would really suck. I kinda got to were I am in the car sene due to this site. I've learned a lot from the dick heads on here not only on ways to mod my car but also on how to go about modding my car. I just to be the type to just go out and buy cheap used parts all the time, and have a regret of doing it after they broke, so by looking at all this builds and reading about how they did it gave me a different look on how to mod a car and I started fresh last year on Jan 13th with my integra. Its no where nearly done, but it sure does look a lot different and performs a lot different than any other car I've had in the past. With that said if you guys ever think about getting rid of Import Atlanta keep in mind that alot off people dont just see it as an internet website but something a little more personal.

RandomGuy - I like the changes.

To Others - IA is not going away. I have been on this site since close to the beginning, and have seen this discussion before. I remember the IS debacle, and the various sales of the name.
In the early days of IA, there weren't a lot of members, but all of them were non-jaded car enthusiasts. While quite a few of the original members are still on the site, and still post, most have gotten older, have more important priorities, and have less interest in doing the same things that they already did a decade ago. Add in the tomfoolery that they see younger people doing, and its easy for them to say that the site has gone downhill. In reality, a forum is just a location where people can post content. It's not the site that has gone downhill, its the perception of the content that is being posted. The perception is that it has gone downhill, leading to more negativity when posting. This is a spiral which feeds itself.

The solution is for older members to try to keep a positive mindset, and set the tone of the site for new members, while realizing that their own priorities have usually shifted to be a little less automotive-based than they were a decade ago.

Out of everyone that's posted you're one of the biggest drama starters. Especially with that big ego of yours. You have a quick civic and like to street race everyone to prove your dominance cool story bro.

I will agree with this. Even though I kinda brought mine onto myself. Still there is no reason to dig up personal dirt and bash people with it. Talking shit on a forum is one thing, but bringing up personal matters is not for the Internet.

    X2 on new mods

That is my point, I've been ban'ed for laughs.. Talk shit cool, but don't get mad and pull a ban stick, or post my address, that is weak.. Mods need rules, and these chumps run the site how they feel, that is why I don't post much..

I stayed in Kills Forum, and tech forum!!

I don't bash this site in person, I have always found it to be helpful for selling parts... I'm not much for posting pics of my car, but I have agreed for some pics to be posted!!

Random guy, we have some drag events coming up in May.. I would really like to see more events/car show!! (hint-hint)

I didn't post your address. I looked up the records on the address that zosick posted. Get it right.

I offered to line up with you. You refused. Why were you in KF?
