Evan, I'm not sure of what the noise ordinance laws are where you are so I can't comment from a legal standpoint, but from a respectable angle, I'd say what you were doing was pretty disrespectful. It sounds like you're in a close subdivision type neighborhood. I would have been pretty upset as well.
