Do you have court-ordered child support? If not, you can go a couple of different ways. Get a court order, he doesn't pay, at the very least he loses his license. Or if he wants nothing to do with you or the child, have him sign over his parental rights. If you go that route and he won't do that willingly, if you go a year without any contact/support from him you can do it without his consent (in GA, may be different where you live). Now if that happens, you won't be able to collect child support but he has zero rights to contact the child... Ever. Well, not without your permission. Also, if you've found Mr. Right he could legally adopt your son and be the Father in every sense of the word.
But if he's not helping you financially at all right now, and I have no idea if he is or isn't. That shit is wrong. The operative word is "help", my ex thought child-support meant also meant ex-wife support...
