    Thumbs down Failed emissions... need help!

    I have up 30 days to get my $hit together for a retest. If not, I'm selling the car to my father and going from there....

    My first time ever so I don't know what all the numbers mean.

    Failed 3 out of 6 and gas cap passed

    25/25 test

    HC ppm reading --> 325 allowed --> 167

    50/15

    HC ppm -------------> 217 ----------------> 173
    NOxPPM ------------> 2953 ---------------> 1372

    You mean NOx?

    Based on the high NOx and HC I'd guess that the vehicle is suffering a slight lean misfire. NOx is created by high compustion temperatures, and isnt always a indicator of a bad cat. Most likely timing is off a degree or two, fix your timing, do a tune up, and change your oil right before going, and you should be set, if it doesnt pass, then you'll need to get your cat replaced.

    Another possiblity is a sticking EGR valve, holding slightly open introducing inhert gas... actually, scratch that, EGR lowers combustion temperatures, not raise them.. late night, sorry about that,

    Willing to give up my 5zigen exhaust for a stock cat back as long as it will help me to pass emissions....

    If you can help and want to make this happen this coming TUESDAY or WEDNESDAY let me know!!!

    You can have the 5zigen axle back just for helping me out
    Just need to borrow your 02, stock cat. converter back to the muffler.....

    Looks pretty good. I believe it's a 3" tip. Doesn't extend to far past the bumper.....

    DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME ASKING FOR THE EXHAUST IF YOU CAN NOT HELP ME OUT!!!

    I need to pass emissions and willing to give the axleback to the person who takes the time to help me by lending an OEM cat-back and 02 sensor to me for a couple hours. Upon passing emissions, I will give everything back to you excluding the OEM axle back because you will be riding off with a 5zigen and I will need the OEM one.

    Hit me up if interested! Serious people only. I am just south of Mcdonough. I have a garage to work out of so it doesn't matter if it's snowing, raining, or hell is freezing over.

    PS <> Also suggested my timing may be off a degree. If you can help with that as well, that would be great!!

    Thumbs up UPDATE!

    Went to the DMV today to get title in my name.
    Emissions not due until May 06 ....she gave me a break

    Still would like to take my retest within 2 weeks because the hatch will be good until May 2007 then. By then it will be K20 powered

    Looking to borrow an OEM cat-back / 02 sensor and anything else to pass emissions. In return you can have my 5 zigen axle back (Just leave me your OEM axle back)

    well, I just boosted the Eclipse and it wont pass emmision. My emmisions were due in September, thought about just trying to registar my car in Florida. However, anybody that can help me with the problem would be great. Just PM please.

    get a new catco cat(i got the hook up) fuel cleaner and follow directions on bottle. I passed on my SR20 with a 3in turbo back and it runs rich.

    You dont need to get rid of your entire exhaust just to legally pass emissions.... Just swap the catalytic converters out... not the everything, just the cats... obviously the ones you have now are fucked up. Or you could just get a friend who does emissions, or do emissions yourself, and never have a problem passing = P

    Well, I plan to do a swap in the EG sometime in 2006...... I know I will not want to keep the fart can (prefer something like es oval muffler), so if someone can help me pass, I'll give it to them for their stock axle back.....

    It's all good if no one helps..... I will have a daily by the time the EG is due for emissions (May) and will have it down for the swap and then emissioned once completed :idb:
