I havent incurred that much debt yet. But when I got little harrassing calls for my little $300 I "owed" Wachovia 4 yrs ago. I just blew them off, I moved 4 times and finally settled for $90. Since the reasoning was that I put 3 regular criminals behind bars for them.
But in your case, (not knowing the full details behind it) I would ride it out in court, if the reasoning you believe is strong enough to hold and u have records of the incident and can prove a just cause. I would be believe a Judge would rule in your favor since the economy is in distress and its quite hard to pay for things that are considered "extra" at this time. Then neg while in court (if possible) with that company. Or just drag it out for 3 more good yrs, write-out season is lookin kinda nice.
