i just thought of one, but it's not weird to me since it's not an american dish, but others may find it strange. i tried beef mafe (spelling?) which is pretty much an african version of beef stew. however the only major difference is that they use scotch bonnet peppers in it (super hot) and natural peanut butter. i've had people look at me weird when i say there's natural peanut butter in the beef stew, but it's actually so tasty, i learned to make it at home.
