Ya got to do both for that clean cut smoothness. Well atleast I do lol i can grow a beard in a few days. I will start off shaving w/ it, then go against it. Then trim my gotee, and trim my sideburns w/ some clippers.

Both....I have sensitive skin, so I shave once a week...maybe once every two weeks. when the goatee grows out I hit it with #2 guard, and sideburns get trimed to match the length of my hair on the side my head.

I dont shave so... its new to me. I strictly get a trim. I hate the irritation.
