Ok im not sure where to post this so... 3 nites ago i was sitting at a red light when sum dumbass decided to run into me doin ATLEAST 50mph, ofcourse totalling the car, a 95 Impala SS! Heres my question, just 5 days earlier i had put almost $5k of stereo in the trunk, so being that the accident wasnt my fault isnt his insurance going to be responsible for that as well? Also my car was a DGGM(dark grey green metallic) which makes it a rare car considering they only made 4442 in 95, so they are hard to find! Since it was HIS fault shouldnt HIS insurance company be responsible for replacing the car and associated parts? Any help is appreciated

It really depends on the way your policy is set up. You can put a sentimental value on your car with some companies to where if something happens to your car no matter what you get whatever set amount you put it at. But as it sounds they are not responsible for whats inside the car. But you can always talk to them and see where it goes. I got paid for the tint intake and other parts that got messed up on my SS/SC when it got totalled by someone. So it depends on how the company is really.

I'd call the cops to getting hit so hard that the car was deemed totalled. Otherwise the claim could be settled outside of insurance limits.

Okay, since I have been through this before, let me help you out:

Their insurance will cover, to a point, aftermarket mods so to speak. You might be able to negotiate half price (maybe more, but who knows). Just have pictures and proof of purchase. If there is anything that you can take out and salvage, do it.

I've been through this before. Like I said, anything that is STILL working, salvage from your car - even if it is totaled. It will be less headache the less you have to claim.
