Default Fatal Accident Blamed on Drag Race.

This was on the local news, and I just wanted to know if you guys thought that the charges being filled on the driver are "fair."

A drag race caused an accident that killed a 15-year-old Sunday, according to the Houston County sheriff's office.

According to Capt. Robert West, two cars were racing on Branch View Trail around 9 p.m. Sunday when the driver of a 2005 Toyota Camry lost control of his vehicle and rolled over.

    According to West,
Christopher Shim of Stone Mountain, a 15-year-old passenger in that car, was killed.

He said the driver of the car is Robert Chung, age 20, of Tucker. Chung is being held in the Houston County jail on charges of first-degree vehicular homicide and various other charges, West said.

West said he did not believe alcohol was involved in the crash. The driver of the second vehicle in the race was not identified. The accident remains under investigation.

I think they are fair 100%. One because he was racing a Camry.....and two because he shouldn't have been doing dumb shit like that with someone in the car. 20 years old....he is old enough to know better.

I think its 100% fair. When you street race, which is already breaking the law, and kill someone..... you're just a dumbass and should be charged to the fullest. If he were just driving and wrecked, killing the kid, I do not think this would be fair. But along the lines of this, I do think that the charges are fair. Let him spend 10+ years in prision and see if he does it again.

The 15 year old was egging it on I'm sure. I think involuntary manslaughter is a better charge.

It doesn't matter what car they were racing in.

They were breaking the law, thats the issue.

Has anyone thought that they weren't racing and one of two drivers just made an error? There are no witnesses that says they were racing, nor did they said anyone had admitted it. Its all talk from a police officer(From his point of view)... do you really believe what everyone says? Do you really believe everything you hear from out goverment?

Maybe the driver said he was racing? Someone said something because they know there was another car involved.

Dude, you can't be serious. I drive with my 15 year old nephew sometimes and no way has he ever 'egged' me on to race or whatever. I also taught him better than that.

Bottomline, the DRIVER of the car who was 20, should have known better.

QFT. Someone telling you to go faster or trying to get you to do it does not make your foot press on the gas anymore.

Everybody should know by now that if someone is injured or killed in the even of a street race that all driving parties are held responsible. so yes it is 100% correct imo.

If the 15 year old kid wanted to go along for the ride in the street race, then he is 100% accountable for his actions in my eyes. So since it was his choice he should have known there would be risks. So the driver should not get vehicular homicide, although he should get street racing/reckless driving.

But if the kid did not know his older friend was going to be street racing and it was not premeditated then he should get vehicular homicide.

So the guy driving the car is not responsible for what happens to his passengers? Even though he is older and should be more mature than the 15 year old he has with him?

First of all 15 year olds should be smart enough to make decisions and weigh risks, especially for acts as dangerous as street racing.

And I ask you to let me ride in your car while you street race, it was my choice and I should be accountable for my actions. And as far as maturity goes, lots of ppl on here street race, whether they say so or not.

    reread my post.
