The new TDI is worlds apart from the old one. It's meant to take advantage of the new low sulphur diesel and has 140hp/236tq vs 100hp/177tq of the older ones. They also had injector trouble in the old PD ones and VW ended up going back to common rail injection which proved to be more reliable. On top of everything, I'm not gonna touch a pre-2004 VW - seen too many with serious issues.Originally Posted by Paul

yes but 20+k vs under 10k is obviously something to think about; not including the mkiv jetta is by far better looking IMOOriginally Posted by Atlblkz06

I'll admit I'm weird - I look at the engine and other stuff first and the "car" later. I thought the LS7 was bad ass and the Z06 kinda came with it lol.
I concur, the MKIV is a better looking car and with a slight drop and a nice set of rims they make great DDs that look killer. I liked the square shapes very much, classic Euro. But it looks like the VW group is now going for curves as a whole.
i've owned every VW make except a MKIII; i had no issues w/ my MKIV jetta and if it was a TDI I would still own it fo sho... but i love my MKV GTI w/ TSIOriginally Posted by Atlblkz06
New TDI motor is sick though![]()

No because you can pick up a TDI now for dirt cheap and has phenomenal MPG..Originally Posted by ISAtlanta300
You cant buy the prius because you like the way it looks, the only reasoning behind it is to save on gas and save the planet.. It doesn't do either..

1.Your points are biased as NO CAR is an investment, at least nothing anyone of us drive.
2. People have reported battieres going for 200k and 300k miles before needing replacing. Its not like they just run out at 100k automatically.
3. That is some jibberish the diesel fanbois created. EVERY CAR uses a batteryThere is no complete formula to come to that conclusion.

Guess you haven't seen the inside of a Prius. It's not that bad looking, and not everyone will like the TDI for looks either.Originally Posted by Frög

please tell me you don't think a Prius is better looking than a TDI Golf/JettaOriginally Posted by ISAtlanta300

^^ I second that. The Prius isn't that good - and its a noisy car for being 25k+! Toyota is definitely making good $$ on those while earning an image for themselves.
There is no contest, the TDI OWNS the prius in this department. I think the TDI can hold its own in situations where you'll get laughed at in the Prius.
Ridiculous. Have you even been near a Prius? Its quiet! When its at a stop, the engine is not running. Its so quiet blind people got upset b/c they said they cannot hear it and other full mode hybrids coming.Originally Posted by Atlblkz06
As for making money the Prius was a giant investment and risk. Toyota decided to do it back in the early 1990s, when gas here was under $1. Pretty risky to invest in a "hybrid" when gas was cheap. They forecasted gas would NOT be cheap for much longer.
THe Prius lost them billions until about 2006/2007. They finally broke even and became profitable then.
There is a market for both diesels and hybrids.![]()

Audi's are far from gay and if i was going to buy and suv i would still rather have v10 TDI power over any hybrid VW can produce.Originally Posted by 1SICKLEX
You can't even compare Audi to Priuis or Insight; sorry but those cars are fucking horrible looking and not worth the investment when you can get nicer rides for cheaper w/ more options including MPG.

I didn't say they were ghey. I am saying ghey people love their Audis/VWs and Infinitis. Nothing wrong with that, just an observation.Originally Posted by Paul
