My car made 334 rwhp bone stock... with a pig rich tune and it was down about 4-5 degrees of timing of where it should be. Intake + Exhaust + Tune got me up to 371 rwhp... not to mention it makes over 330 rwtq from 2500 rpm - 5500 rpm

Not to bash or anything but he does have somewhat of a point. The new V6 Eclipse's made 270ishp hp with a 3.8L V6. I still don't think that those are great numbers for that size of a motor but eh. Just food for thought.

The ls7 is ok. I'd rather have a forged 402 LS2 with nitrous.

500 rwhp on motor, 750rwhp on nitrous and It'd hold together a lot longer than an ls7 would under that kind of abuse.

The ls7 is ok. I'd rather have a forged 402 LS2 with nitrous.

500 rwhp on motor, 750rwhp on nitrous and It'd hold together a lot longer than an ls7 would under that kind of abuse.

I like spray, but I'm not a huge fan...for what I would do with it, LS7 is perfect for me

My GTO is 371 rwhp, with intake / exhaust.

My camaro makes around 525-550 hp at the motor on motor... with the stock heads. It's shortblock is built to take a god awful ammount of abuse which will be tested.

I refuse to read all 5 pages. I'm certain that you got way off topic. Judging by your sig, you couldn't hang with a mazda 626 with suspenson work in the twisties. Just in the straightaways. Not that I'm trying to challenge you or anything, but the VXR made those times, not your car. The main reason why most people hate on american cars is basicly due to their power/weight and power to displacement ratio. Most other vehicles that same weight would run a better time with less power and a smaller engine. But GM is getting way better and more competitive. Here's a great example. How is it that a car weighing 31xx lbs making 505 hp loose by a little over 1/2 second to a car that advertises making 480 hp and weighing 39xx lbs on buttonwillow raceway? Not a very well sorted chassis, if you ask me. GM has definately improved and yes I'd own a ZO6.

An '00 S2K with 6psi can run in the 270whp range pretty reliably with nothing but the turbo. That's 135hp/liter. That's approximately 2.2 Times as much HP/liter as you get with your GTO. Your tune and timing change for my turbo, seems fair, and I still have a massive power per liter difference...from a Honda. I could do it bone stock and really make you feel dumb about the effiency of that LS2, but considering GM can't be bothered to even continue it's DOHC V8 line any more, there's no point in bashing pushrods.

PS: You're right. Us import owners are dumb. You're one of the really dumb ones.

I really wish you would learn to stop selectively reading only the tidbits of information in a post that you wish to use to make yourself appear superior to others. Instead if you read the entire post, and learned how to make contextual connections with other posts, you might come off sounding like you had a f'ing clue what you were talking about. We weren't discussing who would win, we were discussing the efficiency of the engine. The comment was made that 330hp out of 6 liters was rather low. You said you made 371. Red GT said that the new GTs with a wimpy tune made 271hp on 3.8l. You still said you were better. I showed you that a Honda with a tiny turbocharge that would produce little to no lag could produce a HP/Liter efficiency that would smash your 6 liters into tiny coke-can bottles.

If I had wanted to remark on the ability to win races, I would obviously have to factor in some other variables, such as weight (The S2k weighs considerably less than the GTO) drivetrain (the S2k produces very little drivetrain loss, and has an excellently geared engine for track racing) and driver skill (The S2k is a much easier car to learn how to drive, is very forgiving and does not tend to brutalize the driver's mistakes as quickly.) In a Head's-up track race on any given track, I would say that your GTO and the example S2k I gave would produce a decent race, and that depending on the combination of straights and turns, you would have a fair chance of winning. A track like Road Atlanta tends to favor cars like the GTO with good power that can easily gain speed on the straights. A track like Sebring's Club Course would be quite difficult due to the flat, tight turns that are narrow and easy to overshoot. The GTO is a fast car, but pushrod V8's are anything but power-efficienct for their displacement. A car with the HP/liter ratio of my mildly boosted S2k example with 6 Liters would be producing 810hp. Obviously achievable for the GTO, but not with a small turbocharger. Instead some significant adjustments would be required to produce such power.

He pretty much has the fastest and most powerful in the south on pump gas and does not run slicks, just R compound rubber. If you think you can keep up with an 8 second car, go ahead.

I think you've missed my point. With exhaust and a tune i made 320awhp and tq. With my little 2 liter.. Yet your 6 liter v8 struggles to get 330whp off the bat.. That's ****ing pathetic. Pontiac needs to learn how to tune a v8 from the factory or the size of that engine is beyond pointless. Why the 6 liters to make 330whp..? Ferrari uses a 4.3L V8 and hits around 450whp, But you're right... i guess i'm the dumb import owner that bought a car that out accelerates, out handles and out looks your heavy 6 liter V8 right off the showroom floor. Ok so since your so hung up on American cars let me also add this

It take a 6L LSX GTO to make 360hp/350ft-lb of torque

Where as it takes a 4.6L Mustang to make 300hp/320 ft-lb of torque

Now answer this since you know everything what the hell is the GTO doing with what is basically the equivallent of a d15 engine. It sure as hell isn't making much more power with all the extra displacement it has over the mustang. **** for the HP and displacement difference you could buy a mustang and a crx and still have more combined horsepower than a GTO

I would beat you with my 3rd gear out as it is. You're crazy to think you'd take me on a launch, and even more crazy to think you'd take me on the highway. I've got higher horsepower/tq/all wheel drive so i stick instantly on the launch.. I dont know why you would even contest me. I'd have to launch from 2k rpm and miss a shift for you to have a chance.
