I'd be fearful of the maintenance if anything were to go wrong on a late-model BMW.

everything you hear about BMW being unreliable is BS, they have their **** together. you'd be just as likely to get a ****ty benz as a BMW, everyone has bad apples in the bunch.

go for the Z vert, the back end is a lil ugly, but its a good car/similar to your G. and l it ooks really good with the top down, plus it has power, unlike the miata.lol @ all these miata fan boys on here. and dont get the Z4.it will make you look like the gayez. Z vert FTW!!!!!!!!. it will be plenty fun in the mountains!!!! and add some coilovers and it will be awesome!

The only drop top car I'd rock now a days would be the S2k only because there is not other choice and it looks damn sexy with a hard top.

Hard tops are always an option, IE SC430, but that isn't a mountain car by any means.

Chris, you've seen my BMW and ridden it and you know that I'm far from a chick or a fag at that....The Z4 is a fun car and it has a fit and finish that is def superior to that of the Miata or the S2k..... Handles just as well as any car previously suggested in this thread. Not to mention that you can buy a hardtop, though a bit pricey.....

Also for all the naysayers, I fuked up a few s2ks in the time that I owned my car. I would recommend the 3.0. Add a supercharger and it's hella fun.

I however posted FACTUAL DATA from CREDIBLE SOURCES that have conducted THOUSANDS OF TESTS.

Now i have alos driven an S2000 and i have driven a Z4, my uncle used to own one. The Z4 is a PIG, its sloppy, an doesnt have anywhere near the fun of an S2000.

In a 1/4 mile race the S2000 is faster, but we can say they are dead even.

Go find track time of the Z4 and an S2000 an im willing to bet the S2000 is faster by a good bit.

Its overrated just like the Z3 was.

You cant even compare a S2K to a Z4. They arent even in the same league. Its like comparing an SC430 to a Ferrari 355 Spyder.

The Z4 is ok if you like luxury, expensive repair bills, and a slow car.

the S2000 is great for a track, mountain car, cheap to maintain, and is deadly on a road course or twisty road.
