Default The Way Things Used to Be

This sign is found in Ellis Island. The place where most legal immigrants families came through until 1954.

So sad knowing my family saw this sign with their trip into America when they had to learn English, and makes me shake my head at the way things are today.

yup yup, my family moved here in 91, and we all had to learn the ways of this country.

My father, who is an Architect, while not in the position he dreamed of, works for a prominent Restaurant design group, and my dad actually designed several restaurants that many of you might of been in. Old Town Tavern off L-ville-suwanee, Taurus in Buckhead, and even Aiko in Midtown.

My Mother is a supervisor for a Air Traffic control in hearts field airport.

My father started out washing dishes at Dominos Pizza when we first moved here, and my mother worked for a day care.

I know and met several illegal mexican immigrants that have been living here for 20+ years and still speak as much english as the pokemon. Its ridiculous if you ask me.

but then again they do cater to American Lazyness.

Yea. Now they are starting to make it a requirement that all students learn another language. I think thats BS.

I've no problem making learning a second language a requirement for educational purposes. It's good for them and helps kids later on in life. I just don't think that the only language offered should be "Spanish". They need to make English the official language of the U.S. and make it a requirement for citizenship.

Well yea thats what I meant lol Even some jobs have requirments for you to be able to speak spanish. Which I mean is cool to an extent, but its only making people not have any intrest and/or reason to learn how to speak english.
