Moving out of The USA

Recently, I have been hearing a lot of talk about people wanting to move out of the USA. My coworker and I talk about it all the time. I would like to move somewhere exotic for at least a year, just to get a change of pace and see something different, and possibly become an expat. If I had to choose anywhere, I would probably go to Rio Di Janeiro Brazil. Beautiful weather, beautiful women, and relaxed people. But anyways... back to the point. I've been kind of nervous about doing it though, because in the back of my mind I always think of the US as the best Country on Earth. The thing is, I doesn't seem like it will be for very long. With the economy dropping, and the current Presidential candidate situation I think something is going to happen. Whether it is unemployment and homelessness running rampant, a civil war between the people who want the next president in office and those who don't, or Iraq joining up with someone else and coming after us. These issues are starting to take away from my fears of leaving and adding to my fears of staying. So I wanted to ask, do you think it would be good to go somewhere now while I'm only 21, single, and not tied down, or stick around and see if ourt nation's problems get fixed? And would it be abandonment if I have wanted to do it for years, not only because of recent situations? I'm just curios so please post up your opinions.


P.S. From what I understand, theere are many jobs opening up overseas for American's who only know english to do the same jobs they do here, but for triple the money. I assume this is due to the recent outsourcing. They probably thought they could get people in other nations to do the jobs cheaper, but then realized that they had nobody to train them so noone knew what they were doing.

from what i understand, the US has always had the lowest gas prices. and we still do. now i may be wrong, but thats what ive been interpreting from what i read. everybodys just bitching cause we dont get our way anymore, and this may also spark some ideas to finally increase gas mileage and lessen dependence on foeign countries for oil. ever wonder why a lot of the cars in europe are diesels/small displacement engines/small cars/no suvs? its cause gas actually costs more.

as far as the economy, there have been several past recessions, and since 1929, weve always come back from it. theres also inflation, ****s always goin up in price in general. there have always been hard times, everywhere. they are inevitable.

but to answer your thread, i think it would be a great idea to visit another country for a little while. meet other cultures and experience other styles of life, and different aspects of your former country from other standpoints(there would be no biased views). maybe even learn some new languages.
however, i wouldnt base your decision solely off of the economy and gas prices.
just make sure youre pretty financially stable in the case that you decide to take a trip.

My judgement isn't soleley based on economy and gas prices, those are just some of the reasons that have recently come up in discussion and were still in the front of my mind. I have many reasons, I was just trying to be concise, because it's early and im tired. Honestly my main reason is just a feeling of being tied down. I feel like if I stay here something will happen and I won't even have the option of leaving anymore. I'm not saying only bad things either. I mean like getting married, having kids, or getting a job that keeps me here. I feel like if I get into the rat race I will never get out. And I don't feel like that is living. I might just be being pessimistic by having a "the grass is always greener" kind of attitude, but thats just how I feel. Thank you for giving me a real response. And I'm wondering what kind of BS is coming my way...

Yeah autralia sounds pretty cool. I have a friend who is studying abroad out there and he has nothing bad to say about it. He's actually planning on moving there permanently after he gets done with school.

Partially correct. We buy Iran's oil through the UAE, not just Dubai. Dubai just happens to be the most well known of the seven states that collectively make up the UAE.
And not everyone in Dubai is mega rich. It's the folks in Abu Dhabi (another state) who are bad ass when it comes to the dough.

But their famine is no joke.. That have had a drought for like 5 years (dont qoute me for time) in the southeast.. They are loosing livestock now too

It's scary thinking you would have to completely start over. New friends, new language, new house. The thing is its just as exciting as it is scary and thats what draws me to the idea.

I have never been over seas before but I have been to almost every state and both Canada and Mexico multiple times. I think it's good to get out there and see the world since you only live once but I don't know about a few years abroad. Maybe a few weeks here or there but that's it for me. I don't think you understand how ****ing board you will be after a few weeks.

Americans in general (not all) are so accustomed to their lifestyle and change is both scary and stressful. Paul, I say jut save up some money and do your thing for a few weeks but nothing to long. I think you will regret anything longer. Multiple trips is the key!!! All I have to say is let me know when and where you are going!!!!!

i know an older sista(i'm black, not that that matters here)... but i know a sista i was cool with almost a year ago, that was talking about leaving the US.
her reasons were that from associates she knew in parts of government and other people, that things here were gonna take a rediculous nose dive.

she talked about the housing market tanking, of course the fuel costs and other things that i've now forgotten. but before the housing market was noticably bad she mentioned it would go this way...and 4months after i met her...she up'ed and moved to AMSTERDAM.

i was gonna mention that too.....but on the flipside, the possibility of moving to a low AIDS/HIV country and being the 1 sap to stick your jernt into a chick with "THE PACKAGE", can happen too. depends on preparation, one would guess.
