PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (AP) -- A Philadelphia agency has ruled that English-only signs at a famous cheese steak shop are not discriminatory.

The Commission on Human Relations says in its Wednesday ruling that the signs at Geno's Steaks do not violate the city's Fair Practices Ordinance.

Joe Vento posted the signs at his shop in October 2005. They read "This is AMERICA: WHEN ORDERING 'PLEASE SPEAK ENGLISH.' "

Critics allege the policy discourages customers of certain backgrounds from eating there. They say the signs discourage non-English speakers from going to the shop.

Vento says he has never refused service to anyone because they couldn't speak English.

And thats why we need another republican, not McCain, in office to make sure that passes so these bastards learn english and I don't have to see every MOTHERFUKING SIGN IN ENGLISH AND SPANISH!

Ignorance doesn't belong to any one race. It belongs to everyone equally. I've got friends white black brown yellow and everywhere in between. Don't see why anyone would (seriously) have a reason to hate anyone else just because of what color they are.

I remember seeing that guy and this story on Fox and Friends a while back. Im glad they decided in his favor. It's his business and he's not discriminating or completley denying anyone service, therefore he has a right to put up any signs he wants to. Unless he says "you can't eat here if you cant speak english" i dont see anything wrong with it. Besides, it's not his fault if he cant understand what people are saying
