Last time I took government (which was about 8-9 months ago) the law at the time was 16 is the legal age of consent, but if you were more than 3 years older, it was statutory rape.

You misinterpreted the law. 16 and older is okay, period.
I didn't misinterpret the law...it's what my government teacher taught me.
