Age of consent in GA?

Maybe it is just 16.. I can't find anything but it just seems there has to be a limit to the age of the guy is she is under 18

No, there is no max age limit in the state of Georiga. A 30yr old man can bang a 16yr old if he so wishes...unless that man is a teacher or some authority figure of sorts where it is prohibited. Then it gets hairy. However, for the most part, yes, 16 is the age of consent and that is that. There is no "18 rule" or "two year" rule or anything like that...not in GA at least.

thats what i thought!! i always told my friends that a 50yr old could have sex with a 16 and it would be legal, and yes gross but thats not the point.. could never find that law anywhere.. either way, thanks for the clarification!

Here is the GA law:

16-6-3 G
*** CODE SECTION ***

16-6-3.

(a) A person commits the offense of statutory rape when he or she
engages in sexual intercourse with any person under the age of 16
years and not his or her spouse, provided that no conviction shall
be had for this offense on the unsupported testimony of the victim.

(b) A person convicted of the offense of statutory rape shall be
punished by imprisonment for not less than one nor more than 20
years; provided, however, that if the person so convicted is 21
years of age or older, such person shall be punished by imprisonment
for not less than ten nor more than 20 years; provided, further,
that if the victim is 14 or 15 years of age and the person so
convicted is no more than three years older than the victim, such
person shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.
