When I said mixed, I was referring to my mixed race, which is half black half white, most people pick one or the other very RARE do tehy choose to have there cake and eat it too (date black and white)
I'm actually engaged. But I was always very picky with eye color, and hair color, which pushes my choices into the white catagory, so no, I wasn't meaning for that comment to sound ignorant.

Well im black and ive dated white women all my life. Most black women aren't attractive to me.
My mom also married a white dude...he loves cars too.
Would probably never date outside my race (White).
I'm just not attracted to other races generally in a sexual way, to be honest i think the cultural clashes at family gatherings would just not be something i would want to deal with even if i was.

My aunt is Korean. My uncle met her over in Korea when stationed there in the military. Never met her side of the family but she does integrate well into our lifestlye and no one has ever out casted her.
To be honest with you though no matter how far we have come as a culture i honestly think i would get dirty looks if i brought a black girl to a family reunion in Alabama.

Georgia, South Carolina, Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Tennessee, North Carolina, Kentucky, and Arkansas.
Most white families from those areas would frown upon it, i guarantee you.
Atlanta being a bigger city will be more lenient towards it, but still has lots of folks like that.
I understand you are an Auburn fan and either go there or are from there, but you don't know my family. Southern Baptists all the way who are against drinking yet won't openly be racist. One of my great uncles drove a Model-T to a reunion because thats the car he drives, he doesn't realize its a collector's item.
And on my mom's side in Ireland they hardly have any diversity in Ireland, they are just not being exposed to it. They are all abrasive drunks and staunch Catholics who will rant to you about black people when they are drunk.
There is a lot more people still opposed to Interracial relationships then you think, tons more so being in older people.
But i agree, i like cultural diversity, makes life interesting.

I guess interracial relationship intolerance varies from area to area of a state because most parents of the girls ive date which were white, loved me and accepted me as a family member. Of course this doesnt happen everywhere. Ive also heard of a story when a dad kicked his daughter out of the house for dating a black guy and others. I really haven't experienced much hate for dating a white girl or out of my race.
the south has the most interracial relations too.
I go to USC, i will be at UGA in the spring. And i am a catholic, i took my mother's religion since she put her foot down and instilled it in me from a young age, its something that seperates me from the family that lives here who are all baptist, something they really don't understand and i know critisize behind closed doors.
I will agree that it has gotten better, but i think the point is though that it is still majority frowned upon. I agree though that i think it will be rare that a family will disown someone for it, but it will for sometime always seperate them and will be talked about whether its to your face or not.
And i'm not surprised it has the most interracial relationships, probably because the south has the most minorities, black people and hispanics being the majority of that.
I will be honest with you, i would hope for the "easy" way out that my daughter would bring home a white guy so that i wouldn't have to adapt, not because i hate the guy. But i would want the son i never had who i could relate to.
I think we can all say we would rather have what we are familiar with when it comes to making a family.
But then again i think that is all subject to change if you meet someone outside your race who you fall madly in love with. If thats the case then you should be willing to overcome any obstacles for them, and thats just something i haven't experienced but am completely fine with.
If my daughter brought home a black guy, yea i would question it. Not to him but i would say something to her. If she can give me reasons though that she loves him, and is willing to work and take the time to make him apart of the family then i would support her 100% and learn to relate and accept his differences

Yup and my best friend in college. We were in Toronto getting a bite to eat when this chick visiting from NY came up to me and starting going off on me about how it wasn't enough that "we" (as in white girls) have everything that now we need to tread into their "territory" and take the few good black men that are left after jail, drugs and guns. My friend is from Nigeria and told her off telling her that her behavior is exactly why any "good" black man would run away from her and that nobody wants that kind of drama. Race has nothing to do love. I've dated interacially and its no big deal. If your happy. F*uck what everyone else says. Even if it is your own family. Its sad to see here how many people posted that their family says "don't you dare bring (insert race here) person home. If that is the person you love and wanna have a life with go for it.
