Have to disagree with you there. I've lived down here for 12 years and never seen anything like this. I've heard people even talk about the "culture shock" when they moved here. I"m sure there is tension up north, but its not a great.

I think here in the South you can say that we have gotten use to each other

The Jena 6 story is a joke. It was no big deal until the race pimps decided they didn't have enough news time and needed to ***** about something.

If it was 6 white guys beating the hell out of a black guy for raising a "Black Power" symbol then they'd be in more trouble than the Jena 6 because they'd get an additional "Hate Crime".

Now I love to shoot pool and I feel safe if I walk into a black, white, asian, mexican, etc pool hall. Other than people looking at me and thinking "Damn there is a white person here". I don't think any race pays more attention to the fact I'm a white guy in a black pool hall.

I'm not saying that all racial tension is gone. Nor do I think we'll ever get to the day that we sit together and hold our interacial hands and sing kumbaya with a bunch of dirty smelly hippies. But I think we tolerate each other well or better than what the south is believed to be.

Personally I think every yankee reads "To Kill a Mockingbird" and thinks the south is still like that.

2 of my best friends that just got married are an interracial couple, obviously their families were more than cool w/it.

Unless it's a known fact, the bold part cannot be held as necessarily true. When my grandparents first met my first daughter, they weren't happy at all(they turned around in time). When they met the woman who became my wife, they were still not very happy with my decision. When we got married, they weren't around. It took a few years of silence and returned Xmas gifts(to just me) before they finally realized I hadn't made bad decisions. Nothing's "obvious" when it comes to interracial relations and next of kin. Later, QD.

not everyones family is cool with it. i know mine (on my dads side) would flip if i married a white guy.

see they have this thing at first i couldnt date white guys now i can date one but cant take him seriously. now they feel the same way but they say " you can date whomever you want"

cause they know i dont listen. lol and im the baby of the fam so i gets what i want.

Over time they have to get used to it. Its not like they can hide forever from your spouse every time a family event is going on.

Exactly. It took a few years and then everything was straight. I returned Xmas presents sent to just me and B-day presents. Only thing I didn't give back was if they sent money for presents. I would then spend the money on my family. Some people talk about having an interracial relationship problems with their families? Try having multiple inter-race relations at the same time. Lolol. Who honestly gives a ****. If YOU like other races, YOU date them. What the **** do you care about what other people think about what kind of race you date? If you do, you don't deserve anyone you may end up dating.

This poll is ****, simply because if I date a black girl, i'm not gonna give a **** what anyone else in this thread, on this forum, in this city or in the world thinks. My family will get over it because my family is only interested in my happiness. Their love doesn't depend on what the race is of the woman i'm dating.

i'm asian and my girlfriend is white....i don't see a problem with it. her dad took a while to get use to it but he's cool now. and her mom doesn't give a damn as long as i treat her good. i get treated like i'm part of their family and jessica(my girl) gets treated like she's part of mine.

color nvr came to me as a holding point. Who ever i clicked with i went with. 1 thing i always kept as a high priority was...attraction (both physically and mentally). I don't care if she is white, black, chinese, indian or w/e if i don't feel attracted toward a girl i don't give em any attention or try to get to know em better...no point. Attraction is 1 point that should be held hight not color.

P.S All y'all missin indian action don't know what y'all missing.....lady on streets and major freak in a bed.

I actually majority of the time end up attracted more to white males than I do black men. Its I'm honestly attracted to light colored eyes, and lighter skinned tones...and white guys with a slight natural tan. I'm in to guys that are tall, and play sports. Don't get me wrong, sometimes I find a black guy like that, but white guys tend to be educated more so majority of the time, and that turns me on. They tend to be more focused on what they want in life.

As far as dirty looks, wow. I get those a lot when I'm with my male friends that are white. I actually applaud interracial relationships, and I secretly smile when they walk by. It just makes me feel good inside that they don't care enough and are willing to go out. I believe it shouldn't have anything to do with a skin tone, because then thats just superficial. I believe its the full package. I believe if that person is right for you, no matter what race they are, do it. Nowadays, too many people care about what others think. I mean honestly, majority of us aren't pureblood to a race anyways.

Mastakey...this is a little of reason why I said I like them. Its just something about light colored eyes that does it to me. I like the skin tones of white guys because that what I was used to growing up. I like the way they dress, and once again they do tend to have better educations. Real intellect attracts me, and smart men really turn me on. They tend to know what they want in life. I can't explain it, its just a great attraction I get when looking at extremely cute white guys that I dont get when looking at other races. Its hard to explain, but a tall and skinny white guy, clean, tanned, straight teeth, and light colored eyes..makes me melt. And yes, I do want my bills paid.
