shut your trap when the parents are around no matter how bad you want to talk back... i've felt the urge plenty of times to say something smartass and in the past i would have. but i have learned to grow up.
its okay to depend on your parents, realistically at age 18 you have a better chance of succeeding in the future with them backing you, they will be able to help you finance college and get you on your feet before being shoved completely out of the nest.
don't be so arrogant and suddenly move out knowing nothing and then put yourself in an even worse position of financial debt. just respect your parents and they will respect your opinion

OK My boyfriend isn't a slacker, he's got a job, preparing for college, and doesnt drink or do drugs of any sort. They have random reasons for not being too fond of him at the moment. Oh and I've been with the guy for over 2 years now.
When I said I wanted to make my own choices, I meant that I think they should trust my judgement and stop treating me like i dont know what's right for me. I'll listen to their advise, but the ultimate decision should be mine.
