can you also tell me what income bracket do most of the blacks and most ppl of all races that are in prison fall into? I believe crime has a lot to do with low income. As a black man I am just can't believe that or maybe I can that my ppl make up 70% of the prison population. But I don't see it as a race thing, I see it as a product of their environment.Originally Posted by Sack Attack

they wear them long ass white tee shirts that look funny
just like white trash mother fuckers
they live in the trailor park
they molest little kids
every race has there fuck ups, but it is known that the hip-hop lifestyle is not music anymore, it is something to be. If all you listen to is hardcore hip-hop/rap then chances are that your trying to make an image for yourself
everything fits in together, blacks think "Hey, I'm black, so I HAVE to have a rwd GM car, I HAVE to have flowmasters, I HAVE to have either rims or black steel wheels, I HAVE to have a few baby mommas, I HAVE to have something do to with selling/using drugs, and I HAVE to have white tees.
Oh yeah, and I HAVE to listen to rap
I like cutlass' and big rims, but if I wanna drive that shit with a cowboy hat on smoking marlboro red and listening to fuckin conway twitty, I'm gonna do it and I aint gonna let no fucking image of what I'm supposed to be get in my way

banned? thats the key, BAN THE WHITE GUY!!!. the only one whos is taking up for what is right, no one else got the balls? ya'll afraid of hurting people feelings or looking bad? the only reason the blacks are ahead of us now is because they stood up for what they thought was right regardless if it was right or wrong, they stood up and always fuckin win, because ya'lls white asses is scared.
A) Sack Attack - you're an idiot.
2) As far as rap goes - you walk INTO the store and BUY "Jay-Z" and "Tupac". If it plays on public radio it's the radio version. If your daughter was on that team you'd think differently.

My surprise to you not being banned yet has absolutely nothing to do with the color of your skin, just the way you rant is uncalled for IMO.
Well, then how do so many people know about those not so PG13 lyrics then? They certainly aren't listening to the clean version, so they would've had to of heard them somewhere, right?Originally Posted by BABY J
Let me give you an example: Yesterday, we were at my son's birthday party thing for all his school friends. We had just sat all of the kids down to eat pizza and coke. A friend of ours, one of the parents of the children attending, phone went off. She had as her ring tone that "smack that ass" song that get's played on the radio 52 million times a day. Only the beginning of the song played for about 3 secs. ALL of the children started laughing and giggling. One of the parents said, "hey, what is so funny??? Yall don't know what that song is..." To which one of the children responded by singing all the lyrics up to the "ASS" part, which he just mouthed and not said out loud. Again, all the children broke out in laughter because they KNEW what the words were and that it was probably NOT cool for them to say them. How'd THEY hear it??? Most likely one of those 52 million times on the radio.
Point is: Although I understand what you're saying, many of the people that are saying to hold Black Entertainment's feet to the fire are doing so simply to prove a point and to show how unfair it is to only do it to one side of the equation. Do I care that certain songs have strong lyrics? Only when my kids are within hearing range. Do I care that entertainers make piles of money? Absolutely not. Do I care certain songs get played on the radio? Absolutely not, that's what the dial is for.
Bottomline is that if the Black community is going to take up arms against one insignificant guy for saying "nappy headed ho's", they should also take up arms against their own for saying far worse a whole lot more times than just once for 3 secs. If you don't, then you are being a hypocrite. "Ho's" means the same thing weather a White man says it or a Black man says it or a Brown man says it. Why should we treat any of them any different?
BTW, Carlos Mencia had a skit on his show last night that was entitled, "are you smarter than a WETBACK?" as a parody to Jeff F's show. I didn't watch it because I'm not a fan of Carlos, but should all Mexican's now make a big deal and have him fired??? He certainly labeled Mexican's with a direct name and on top of that the characters playing the skit were strictly stereotypical from what I saw. Now what? Should we have a week's worth of front page news about it? Should we call for his firing? See the double standard?![]()
You answered your own question - ONE OF THE PARENTS had that tone in a setting full of kids.
If she is a parent w/ that tone, then what movies does she watch at home? What ELSE is she exposing her kids to? And it's not just her - it's in almost every household.

So you think that it just happened to be that all 18 children that were present happen to have heard the uncut version of that Akon song with the full consent of their parents at some point or another?Originally Posted by BABY J
I can vouch for atleast 2 of the children present and I know that the ONLY place they would hear those uncut lyrics would be from the RADIO or TV. Either way, I can guarantee you that MY 2 kids have NEVER bought or listened to that song in it's uncut version with MY permission nor my wife's. So where'd they hear it? Again, on the radio and TV.
My point was simple. You said that radio plays "clean" versions of music, and I'm telling you that they don't all the time. This was a party for 8 yr old kids. Do you honestly think that their parents would knowingly allow their 8 yr old son/daughter to listent to that song's lyrics which are talking about "smacking that ass" while you are having SEX???? But somehow or another they KNOW what that song is about or atleast suspect it's not good. So how come we are not boycotting Akon or the radio stations for advocating "smacking the ass" of a woman while she's on all 4's and we're pounding her from behind?????
Again, I personally don't have issue with it, that's what the dial is for. I monitor what both my kids and even my Godchildren when they come over watch and even download onto their Ipods. If I don't like it, then the answer to them is "NO", end of discussion. Does that mean that their buddies at school won't let them listen to THEIR Ipod where the same song I veto'd could be??? I'm not stupid to think it's not possible. It still doesn't change the fact that AKON sung the song with certain lyrics. HE chose to do that. HIS record label recorded it and made piles of money off it. RADIO plays it over and over again, with them too making gobs of money off it. Bottomline is that AKON can say whatever HE wants and there is no retribution for it. One old WHITE guy says "nappy headed ho's" on a show that has a minute fraction of what AKON's audience is, yet he gets fired and labeled while Akon goes on to fame and fortune. Double standard exhibit #5000000000000.![]()
I kinda agree. People do have the ability to turn the dial. When I have kids, I will definately monitor what they hear, do, see, and damn near think, lol.Originally Posted by Jaimecbr900

And after the Rutgers team met one-on-one with him they said they wanted it to be over and done with. Why isn't it if they are the ones that should've (and rightly so IMO) been offended? Wrong. The bottom line is the CDs are sensored - there are ratings right there on the packaging. And the FCC approves what can be played or not. People act like this is Imus' 1st dance and it's not - he has been asking for it for years. He earned exactly what he got. I dont think it infringed on his first amendment rights, if you worked at a grocery store and called one of the patrons a nappy headed ho you would get fired too. Right or not- the old white man should know he's messing with his meal ticket by saying that. Just because a rapper can say it doesn't mean you can. I've never been a fan, so I can't say that I know the typical style of his program. It sounded to me like he used the same context that someone of my generation would use, referring to a type of woman of any racial descent. But he's got to know that he's not Dave Chappelle and that he's not the person to boldly go where no old white guy has gone before. Especially making fun of women in a predominantly African-American sport. I don't like the idea of firing someone based on what I heard him specifically say. I do support the idea, however, of firing Imus now that I know he is ignorant enough to think HE could get away with saying it (and on the air!). You have to possess a certain element of stupid for that. And what other points of view are perverted by that same element of stupid?
He'll find a job somewhere. Or maybe he can write a book about all of this and make even more money...
1) You have the right to not buy things from advertisers on his show.
2) You have the right to change the channel.
3) His employer has the right to fire him if they want.
4) You have the right to be mad if he said this about your daughter while sitting right in front of you at the B-ball game.
5) You can even punch him in the lip but then you turn into the bad guy and have to take responsibility for what you do. And that's what he is doing - taking responsibility for what he said.
He's a button pusher and has been for 20 years. An equal opportunity offender and he's made these kinds of remarks about every race, color and religious background.
The Constitution guarantees freedom of speech. Where does it guarantee the right to not be offended?
As far as Don, I think they fired him because of pressure from sponsors, media and so on. They were worried about their image if they approved imus to continue broadcasting. My personal opinion is that what he said was out of line and should realize that his light hearted comment was taken very seriously by others.. but this national epidemic is rediculous. Imus continues to sincerely apologize and the basketball team accepts the apology and moved on but will not forget... just like the rest of the world should. We have way too many more serious issues to deal with right now. I believe racism is a very serious issue, but I don't believe Don was being racist, he just said a racist thing and didn't think things through before he said it. I'm sure he said this comment in reference to the hip hop community (wheather he hears the slang from rap or on the streets), however that's not an excuse. It is also not "rap's" fault. Don screwed up, we still live in a time where many people are still very hurt from the past (slavery), and as long as that hurt is spread down generation to generation.. we must respect each other's seperate racial cultures.

I used them only because I think they will blast someone for saying things like that.....only for effect, not desire lol.
Wrong. That's not censorship. That is warning labels, very very different. NOONE is keeping the rappers from rapping about ANYTHING. Last time there was any kind of real censorship was back in the 2live Crew deal. There is a HUGE difference between putting a sticker warning parents (they are the only ones that DON'T know what bad words are being used if there is anyone that doesn't know) that in that disc there are 52 million curse words used. That sticker DOES NOT keep the rapper from saying those words to begin with NOR is it keeping him from recording those words onto a CD NOR does it keep him from selling that CD and making gobs of money off it. So NO censorship at all there. Sorry.Originally Posted by BABY J

Exactly. He's been using the same type of dry humor against every race under the sun, but now suddenly it makes a difference??? How so?People act like this is Imus' 1st dance and it's not - he has been asking for it for years.
No he didn't. If there was any other more important news last week, he'd still have his job today. If a Black man would've said it, he'd have a job today regardless. So how exactly did he get what he deserved???? He got what he got because the 1st Ammendment rights really don't and shouldn't apply AT WORK. AT WORK, the only rights that matter are the ones your boss affords you since it's HIS BUSINESS. But if Imus went to a street corner and shouted at the top of his lungs what everybody is having their panties in a bunch about there would be NOTHING ANYONE could do. NOTHING!!! Why? First Ammendment. AT WORK, the owner should be the ONLY one to have any say so NOT ANYONE ELSE. That's NOT what happened here at all.He earned exactly what he got.
See above.I dont think it infringed on his first amendment rights, if you worked at a grocery store and called one of the patrons a nappy headed ho you would get fired too. Right or not- the old white man should know he's messing with his meal ticket by saying that.
When you work FOR someone, you are working under THEIR rules. Imus' employer DIDN'T have a problem with what he said UNTIL Sharpton and Jackson made the media frenzy they did. Remember, he said it for a good week or two BEFORE the media and the race pimps got a hold of it.....why didn't he get fired before that??? His bosses were listening just fine to it WHEN he said it to begin with. Funny how that works, right?
There is a big difference between a quick backlash to sticking your foot in your mouth and caving in to political correctness and scare tactics. BIG DIFFERENCE.
There it is!!! That's the real reason all this crap is going on. The DOUBLE STANDARD that everyone thinks is all fine and dandy until it involves them.Just because a rapper can say it doesn't mean you can.
Tell me exactly WHY it's "can" and anyone else "can't". What exactly entitles the rappers to say what they want with impunity yet when someone else says a tiny portion of what they scream out at their concerts in front of millions of people including under age children they suddenly get labeled "racist(s)"? How does that work like that?
Then how can you say that he has been "asking for it for years"???I've never been a fan, so I can't say that I know the typical style of his program. It sounded to me like he used the same context that someone of my generation would use, referring to a type of woman of any racial descent.![]()
Same way everyone else who backs his firing did.....Al and Jesse told them so....![]()
There you go again, using that double standard. Why is it that Chappelle can and Imus can't? THEY ARE WORDS, folks. WORDS!!!But he's got to know that he's not Dave Chappelle and that he's not the person to boldly go where no old white guy has gone before. Especially making fun of women in a predominantly African-American sport.
Are we going to keep promoting a society where it's ruled by a bunch of NIMBYs (Not In MY Back Yard) wimps???? Everything is status quo until someone wants to do it in YOUR backyard, THEN it's not cool anymore. BS. Right is right, wrong is wrong REGARDLESS.
I thought you said he got what he "deserved"?I don't like the idea of firing someone based on what I heard him specifically say.
Hmmm, then how come he gets fired NOW? Watching the news explains why. Al, Jesse, and all the bandwagon riders will tell you why since they are the only ones getting the real airtime. He's a button pusher and has been for 20 years. An equal opportunity offender and he's made these kinds of remarks about every race, color and religious background.
Exactly, so why is this such a big deal? Hurt feelings aren't PROTECTED under ANY part of the U.S. Constitution. The Constitution guarantees freedom of speech. Where does it guarantee the right to not be offended?

Why? This is a completely different 50 debate, but what in the world are people still pondering over slavery for? It's an excuse.we still live in a time where many people are still very hurt from the past (slavery), and as long as that hurt is spread down generation to generation.. we must respect each other's seperate racial cultures.
