A 16-year-old boy shot a 19-year-old home intruder on Tuesday morning. The two, at one point, were good friends.
Investigators said it looks like a clear-cut case of self-defense.
Police said 19-year-old Marques Magee was dressed in black, with a bandanna covering his face when he threw a rock into a window and broke into a home.
"I just seen him," said Raquel Sutton. "Marques not the type that'll do something like that, at all."
Inside, a 16-year-old, who police said grabbed his dad's gun, shot Magee several times in self-defense, killing him. The two knew each other.
"They used to be close, but I don't know what happened," said Pebbles Maddox. "They fell out."
Proof that the two were close -- last March, police picked the two up for hot-wiring and riding in a stolen car. For friends and neighbors, that makes the shooting even more perplexing.
"I just feel sad," said neighbor Sabrina Sheran. "I just feel sad for the families, sad for the neighborhood, because it puts everybody else on guard."
Both teens went to North Clayton High School.
