Teen Knew Intruder He Shot To Death

A 16-year-old boy shot a 19-year-old home intruder on Tuesday morning. The two, at one point, were good friends. Investigators said it looks like a clear-cut case of self-defense.

Police said 19-year-old Marques Magee was dressed in black, with a bandanna covering his face when he threw a rock into a window and broke into a home.

"I just seen him," said Raquel Sutton. "Marques not the type that'll do something like that, at all."

Inside, a 16-year-old, who police said grabbed his dad's gun, shot Magee several times in self-defense, killing him. The two knew each other.

"They used to be close, but I don't know what happened," said Pebbles Maddox. "They fell out."

Proof that the two were close -- last March, police picked the two up for hot-wiring and riding in a stolen car. For friends and neighbors, that makes the shooting even more perplexing.

"I just feel sad," said neighbor Sabrina Sheran. "I just feel sad for the families, sad for the neighborhood, because it puts everybody else on guard."

Both teens went to North Clayton High School.
Well, I know all my friends.....but if one of them throws a rock through my window and breaks into my house wearing a bandana on his face......I don't think I'll recognize him/her either.

Even if I did, what are they doing inside my house?

It seems that maybe gangs were after the 16-yr old?

Obscene graffiti with racial overtones directed toward "Wes" is sprayed in white paint on the road in front of the Stephens home and along Camp Road. Stephens is white, McGhee black.

Neighbors Dan and Linda Harris said the graffiti showed up about 45 days ago.

"I don't know if it's gangs, a black and white thing or just stupidity," Dan Harris said. "I know we've known Wes since he was a little boy, he used to swim in our pool and we've never had any trouble out of him."

I read that earlier, but I wasn't sure just which one was black and which one was white. I just knew that one was white because on the news his family was standing outside yesterday but refused to talk on camera. I didn't know if that was the deceased or the shooter's family.

Supposedly the bandana was a "gang" thing, according to the police but they never went as far as to call the intruder a gang member.
