A 19-year-old was shot dead, police said, after an ill-fated home invasion on Tuesday morning. It happened on Camp Road in College Park.
Based on their initial investigation, Clayton County police are calling it a burglary. The investigation continues.
Friends of the alleged burglar say the situation is far more than a break-in. Police said 19-year-old Marques Magee broke in to a Riverdale home through a side window by a garage. Investigators said the 16-year-old boy inside the home heard the noise, grabbed his father's automatic handgun and confronted Magee inside the garage.
Police said the boy shot Magee multiple times. Friends of the alleged burglar said the two teens knew each other from North Clayton High School. They said they are convinced their friend would not burglarize a home, and contend that the case is not clear-cut.
"For somebody's life to be taken like that, why would you shoot somebody 14 times?"- (keep in mind that this is the suspect's friend and she does not specify if it was just 14 shots or 14 hits or anywhere in between; also, how the fuck did she know how many shots were fired???) asked the suspect's friend, Raquel Sutton.
A few yards away, there was a message spray-painted on the street with the name of the 16-year-old boy who fatally shot the intruder.
The family whose home was broken into and the teen who fatally shot the intruder have refused to comment on camera.
Police have not confirmed whether or not the case is gang-related, but they've said the investigation is ongoing, and would not point to a possible motive.

A burglary suspect was shot and killed by a 16-year-old late Tuesday morning in Clayton County, police said.
The incident occurred about 11:30 a.m. in the 6300 block of Camp Road, off Flat Shoals Road near the Fulton County line.
Clayton police Chief Jeff Turner said the suspect, Marques McGhee, 19, entered the home through the garage. He was shot by the 16-year-old son of homeowners Wes and Sharon Stevens.
The 16-year-old got a gun from the master bedroom and shot the intruder multiple times, killing him, Turner said.
Turner said no charges had been filed against the teen, but the incident remained under investigation.
