I'd do the complaint. Plain and simple. I've had a cop give me a ticket for no reason, but I won't go into that.
Only reason I didn't file one on him was it was in bum-fucked Alabama on the way to Panama City.
His beat is around my office. So I drive through his area in the morning. During lunch. If I run errands, then when I leave...
He is just WAITING for me to do something else...

IIRC, them driving your car away is illegal as all hell. When my brothers Vette was impounded a cop drove his car off and when my mom called to find out where it was taken, and told them that they had driven it off, the person she talked to at the police station said that that couldnt have happened because it is illegal. so maybe if u file the complaint u can get the cop arrested.
nothing happened with my brothers car because it was her word against the cops ...

It wasn't towedI would ask to speak to the owner of the towing company then request their insurance information.
As for towing, i am just about positive it's a 'fix-it' ticket with the tag unlike expired insurance where they can and will tow it. Ask to speak to the officers captian/supervisor...keep pushing it. Everything should be dropped and refunded.
On bimmerforums, one of the members knows the owner. I will be speaking with this individual on Saturday at the Stn Mtn meet.
