    Default Terry Jones...

Anyone else think this moron needs to be put in his place? This little publicity stunt will result in nothing more than chaos in Afghanistan, more dead soldiers and putting every American at risk for another large scale terror attack. I may not agree with the teachings of Islam, but I'm damn sure against putting our soldiers lives at a greater risk than they already are and putting the lives of all Americans, here and abroad, at risk for retaliation.

Its stupid, provocative, dangerous, and offensive but he has every right to do it. And of course we have the right to tell him how much of a loser he is. That's why I love this country.

I agree, he does have his constitutional right to free speech, and that shouldn't be questioned. It just starts to seem like a bit of a gray area to me when you are knowingly and willingly endangering the lives of thousands of soldiers and millions of Americans.

I understand where you are coming from but you can't dictate freedoms based on how murderous crazy people might respond.

Actually, if I'm correct. His "free speech" and freedom to do whatever he does only goes as far as long as it does not offend others. And by just a quick guess...I think this is going to offend a whole lot.

Not quite, his rights only extend so far as he is not infringing upon someone else rights. He can offend people all he wants so long he is not depriving someone else of their rights, that's when it becomes a legal issue.

His speech is protected even to the point of offending others. I think where it crosses the line is if he tries to provoke others, or if he implies a threat or intimidation.

I think the precedent here is cross burning. There was a case in Virginia that said the Klan can burn all the crosses they want on their own property, but if they burn one on someone else's property it implies intimidation and is no longer protected speech.

Jones is hem-hawing about whether or not he's gonna go through with it. He's claiming to have agreed with the Park 51 people that he won't do it if they move their community center. They are saying no such agreement has been discussed. At this point the damage is mostly done. If he doesn't have a Quran burning someone else will.

Jone's "church" is pretty much just a cult. There are 50 people in his "congregation" and contact with family members and the outside world is discouraged. They work for his business without compensation.

Jones even sets a weight requirement for his parishioners and weighs them regularly to make sure they aren't eating outside the church.

"WBC burned the Koran once – and if you sissy brats of Doomed america bully Terry Jones and the Dove World Outreach Center until they change their plans to burn that blasphemous tripe called the Koran, then WBC will burn it (again), to clearly show you some things," the church announced in a news release this week.

And Jones in the last day has indicated some reluctance to burn the Muslim holy book.

The Canadian Press reported Thursday that in an interview with a Canadian radio station, Jones said the church was considering calling it off.

"We are very much in prayer about it. There is the possibility, of course, that we will not do it," Jones was quoted as saying.

He told a group of reporters Wednesday that he planned to burn at least one copy of the Quran.

Dove World is one of the few groups to join forces with Westboro members, who have protested at funerals across the country.

In April, a handful of Westboro members picketed outside of the University of Florida Hillel, the Jewish student center, and Trinity United Methodist Church, and Jones and about 30 members of his congregation joined the WBC members outside of Trinity United.

While officials from President Barack Obama to Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton have condemned Jones' plan, Fox News reported Thursday that a White House spokesman said the administration is considering contacting Jones to urge him to call it off.
What these geniuses don't realize is that they are doing more to help these extremist groups than "showing them who's boss," they're just giving them fuel to continue what they're doing.
