I'm surprised you haven't heard of this yet. I don't even have cable and I heard about it several days ago. Is your point that the governor shouldn't be able to name a temporary successor or are you just trying to point out a political move made in 04?
I have no problem at all with either method of replacing a senator. My problem is with Kennedy pushing for a change in the law to stop an appointment when a republican is in office, now wanting to change it back because a special election right now could very likely put a republican in Kennedy's seat.Originally Posted by bu villain
Heard on the news today that the Gov. is in favor of making Kennedy's seat an appointment and not using a special election. I dont know how it would work though considering the seat is already officially open. Can they change the law and make it retroactive?
